Maria POV ((it's been a while))

Peggy hadn't let go of me since we first left the hospital in LA. I don't blame her, though. I would've done the same thing. Our entire friend group had had too many hospital visits lately and it was beginning to take a toll on all of us.

"Aunt Maria, can we buy a turtle for John?" Philip asked, interrupting my thoughts.

"We can if you go play with Ella for a little while, " I replied warmly.

"Okay!" the little boy cheered before running off. We had the whole gang over right now. It was nice, although I'm not sure how we all fit into mine and Peggy's tiny apartment.

"TURN THE TV ON AND GO TO CHANNEL SEVEN RIGHT NOW!" John screeched suddenly while bursting into the room. I started to question him, but stopped myself because I realized it wouldn't get me anywhere. Instead, picked up the remote, clicked the power button, and flipped to channel seven.

"The news?" I asked.

"JUST WATCH!" John shouted eagerly. I threw my hands up in defense and turned to look at the reporter on the screen.

After further investigation into the Reynolds case, James Reynolds has been charged with attempted murder and abuse against his ex wife. He was arrested this morning and sentenced to life in prison.

I stood there in shock. I eventually tried to move, but my body wouldn't allow me. Instead, I mumbled inaudible words and fell onto the ground.

"Mar? Are you alright?" John asked, kneeling at my side. After a few seconds of awkward silence, I regained control and made myself speak.

"Does this mea-," I started to say. I was interrupted by a knock on the door. Before I could shout "come in", I heard the door open. Whoever was there had apparently decided to let themselves in.

"So jail was fun," Angelica commented sarcastically. A smile played on her face as she walked into the room.

"ANGIE!" I screamed before throwing my arms around her.

"WHAT?!" I heard both Peggy and Eliza squeak from somewhere in the apartment. Soon after, I heard many sets of footsteps running down the stairs. Before I could move, everyone thrust themselves on Angelica.

"That's a lot of love," I heard Philip laugh from behind me.

"Qui est-elle?" Ella added. Angelica slowly pushed past people to meet the children.

"Ange, this is Philip and Ella. We adopted them in LA," Alexander said. Angelica stared at him in confusion, so Alex simply shrugged and gave a short response.

"Long story." Angie nodded and leaned down in front of the two kids.

"I'm gone for a few days and y'all go to LA and adopt kids?" she laughed.

"Again, long story," Alex chuckled with her. "Also, sorry for having you arrested," he added nervously.

"It's fine," she sighed.

"Qui est-elle?" Ella asked again, cocking her head and squinting at Angelica.

"C'est Angelica. Elle est la soeur aînée de Peggy et Eliza," Laf replied, resting a hand on his daughter's shoulder.
