Arabella's pov/thoughts
"B-Bell?" Kate's voice came out in an uneasy whisper as I finally pulled away from our hug.
Not only moments ago, both Kate and Elle had their backs to me; not even expecting that I would tackle them seconds later in a gigantic hug. I guess you could say I caught them off guard... by a lot.
"Yeah!" I chirp at Kate, looking between my two friends, "What? Did you guys somehow forget about me?"
I stand in front of them, now 3 feet away, smiling and waiting for their reaction; with their laughter and comforting reassurance, but it never comes.
The uneasy, awkward mood changes quickly to a fiery annoyance, as if they couldn't wait to get out of my presence. Elle already looked as if she'd pull herself bald as it was.
"We were hoping too, actually," Elle responds, twisting a straight lock of her hair around her perfectly manicured finger. She looked down on me from her 3 inch height advantage, smirking as if proud of telling me off, when she really didn't.
"And what do you mean by that?" I ask her with a strong voice, slightly offended by her rude response and actions. I step up to her supermodel body and try my best to look intimidating, though it's pretty hard when you're super short and currently dressed in all guy clothes.
They both laughed sinisterly, looking down at me from the bridges of their noses as if I was a lost cause.
"You seriously didn't think we left you at Vidcon on accident, did you?" Kate reached out to rest her petite hand on my shoulder, doing a half-heartedly job at trying to be comforting. They both waited for the realization to hit me, but I stared back at them with cold eyes.
Kate rolled her eyes in an 'are you kidding me' fashion, sighing as she realized I really wasn't.
"Ha, Bell you're funny." She smiles at me in mock sympathy.
"Get your hand off me," I snap, feeling every wall in my body crumbling down around my heart and mind. But I had to keep a cool composure.
The friendship I had with each of them, since kindergarten, was it all a lie?
My mind was buzzing with questions and confusion, though my heart somehow understood all of this madness; and I could feel it breaking, piece by piece.
"Ooh, feisty," Kate smirked at my recent, fast movements. I scowled at her comment and glared in her direction.
"So what? Our friendship for all these years? Was it a lie?" I ask the question before my mind can filter. And if I had kept myself from asking it any longer, I would've slapped the look off of Kate's face to pass the time.
"Well," Elle sighed, "At one point it was. But as we all got older, you changed. You were harder to make happy. You didn't like to do many things. You stayed at home almost 24/7. And if you ask me, you became more of a pitty case to us then a friend."
Elle said it with so much ease, and what she meant was as clear as day.
"So you're blaming me for the way I am?" I ask them through gritted teeth. If I wasn't biting the inside of my cheek so hard, then I already would've been bawling my eyes out.
They didn't respond, but instead turned away from me with nonchalant shrugs. They probably were just waiting for it all to sink in, and for me to understand.
And it did-I did.
Finally allowing myself to tear up, I bolted out of Panera, taking a sharp right and almost bumping into a lamp post in the process.
