We sat on opposite ends of the couch and watched the games in silence. We exchanged a brief glance and looked away immediately. My face was beat red. I didn't know what to say or do. I paid attention to the tv, and didn't break the concentration. Now he'd done it. Peeta was telling the careers where Katniss was. What was he doing?! As long as he was alive, I guess I didn't care what he did. Gale shut off the tv and turned to face me.

"Go to sleep Bre. You've been awake all day. You look tired." He scooped me up before I could argue, and carried me to my room.

"I'm sorry about--" I cut him off. "Shhh... It's okay." I smiled and ran my fingers through his hair as he laid me down in my bed, and covered me with a soft blanket. "Goodnight love." He kissed my forehead and left the room.

In the morning, Gale woke me up with a soft kiss on my nose.

"Morning Banana." He smiled as I smiled back. Since I just woke up, my voice was hoarse, and it made Gale laugh when I said, "morning," and rubbed my eyes. We headed off to the woods together after breakfast, as usual.

"Banana," Gale started, "I've got a question." I turned to his direction unsure of what he was talking about as he continued to ask, "You ever wonder about whether you get to see... Peeta again?" I was surprised he ever wondered this, because I thought he didn't like Peeta...not one bit.

"Erm, yeah, sometimes..." I paused. "Do you? ...do you think about seeing Katniss again, I mean?" He nodded, and looked up from the floor to stare into my eyes, "but for some reason, when I'm with you... It-it's like she doesn't exist, like I never met her before, and that you're... you're the one for me." He blushed, but I was shocked. My mouth hung wide open and I was speechless.

I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Gale honestly and sincerely loved me. I was struck speechless for the longest time. I loved Peeta, but what if I could never see him again? Gale made me feel safe. He made me feel better, about anything. Just being around him gave me butterflies. I wrapped my arms around him and hugged him tightly, taking in his scent of pine and sweet things. He kissed the top of my head softly. I hesitated and whispered very softly, "Gale, what happens if--" he stopped me by putting his finger to my lips. "Don't think about that right now."

"But Gale..." He sighed and held my shoulders, and stared into my eyes. "Bre, I promise you, things will work themselves out. Everything happens for a reason." When we reached my house, the sound on the tv wasn't on. I looked over just as Gale finished his sentence, and saw Katniss finding Peeta. He was camouflaging by the river. She helped him up, and hugged him tightly. A smile sparked across my face. Gale seeing me so happy at this, frowned, but hugged me tightly. We continued back in the woods like we had before, hunting and exploring.

As we went into the house after a long day, we found my mother already sitting on the couch watching the Games. We exchanged glances at each other and quickly took a spot next to my mom.

"So... what happened while we were out?" I asked her. She explained to me that 2 other tributes died and 1 nearly escaped death. That leaves 8 tributes... my heart skipped a beat when I realized that those two tributes might've been Peeta and or Katniss. I looked to Gale who was already staring at me with wide open eyes.
