School is starting in three days and I am not happy. I have had a month and a half to hang out with Houston, but it feels like it needs to be more. Sometimes I wish school didn't even exist, but what would I be without it? Days ago, Houston and I went to a park. We had a picnic, and watched a movie. I know, no one does that anymore these days, but you'd be surprised how many people were there.
But it was very romantic.
These last three days are going to be boring, as I'll have to sit here and watch Napoleon Dynamite all day long. Any other time, I would be hyped about that, but not now. Not these days. Hanging out with Houston was the best thing these last few weeks of summer.
I hear a knock on my bedroom door and I get up, I wasn't expecting anyone to be over.
I open the door to see Houston smiling, suitcases in his hands.
"You're going on vacation? These last few days?" I ask, and he laughs.
"We're going on vacation. I already have your suitcase. Lets go!"
And in his hand was my blue decorated suitcase.
"What? Where? Do my parents even know about this? We only have three days left." I try, pouring out all things in my mind at the moment.
"Your parents know, we're going to Florida, lets go."
"I'm not even dressed!" I say, looking down at my sweat pants and loose tee. He smiles.
"It doesn't matter, lets go or we'll be late for our plane."
"I've never been in a plane..."
"Now you will, come on!"
We rush out the door and my parents wave to me, god, why do they have to be so bad right now. I mean, of course I've psyched to go on vacation with Houston, just not so fast. I cannot believe my parents are even letting me do this without them.
I made sure I had my phone and charger before we left, and my Napoleon Dynamite DVD. You can't go anywhere without that.
I cannot believe we were on our way to Florida. And we were taking a plane.
We got in the car and rode to the airport. The closest airport was twenty minutes away: great. Our flight was going to be lifting off at 3:25, and it was 2:48 now.
"We aren't going to be late, are we?" I ask, and he shrugs.
"Probably."
"Houston!"
"Calm down, I'm kidding. We'll be there in about fifteen minutes. You should enjoy this precious time with me."
"I do, but I want to go to Florida, too."
"Me too, that's why we're going."
"I didn't expect this, honestly."
"So basically, you had no faith in me?"
"I didn't say that, I'm just saying that this is crazy. Last three days before school."
I reach for his hand, the one that isn't on the steering wheel, and he grabs it, intertwining our fingers.
"I thought you'd like to spend these last few days together, alone."
"My parents let you do this?"
"Of course."
I sigh and sit back, waiting until I see the sign that indicates we're here: AIRPORT.
We get out of the car. Houston told me that mom and dad would pick the car up as soon as we got on the plane. Stupid idea, they could've drove us. But then we wouldn't get to talk privately about nothing, so it's okay.
