She stood on the edge of the bridge looking out across the city. The lights gleamed brightly towards her. The highway wasnt that busy at this time at night but the car lights looked like rubies and diamonds dissappearing into the dark night. The moon shone brightly and all the stars twinkled. Today was the day. It was the perfect night. Shed been planning on this for ages and now she could do it.

Mackenzie Cole was only 16 years old. Her life was rough ever since she could remember. She grew up without ever seeing her biological parents, she was adopted when she was 10 weeks old by a nice Christian family. She found out she was adopted when she was 12 but that wasnt what caused it. Mackenzie was a popular girl with long blonde hair. She was very intelligent and had alot of good friends. Her troubles started in fourth grade. She got bullied really badly and used to get hit at school because she was Christian. By the time Mackenzie got into Middle School she thought the bullying would stop but it didnt, the names got worse and so did the abuse. She couldnt take it anymore.
One day Mackenzie found out about self harm, a girl in her grade was doing it and she said it helped so Mackenzie tried it. It helped abit, she could control her pain and emotions by harming herself although this relief was only temporary. As she got older the bullying got worse and so did her cuts. Mackenzie was hospitalised once because shed cut too deep.
Ontop of this she had an eating disorder because she wasnt exactly... the skinniest girl in her grade. Mackenzie used to make herself throw up and sometimes she would go days without eating. Her friends didnt have a clue but again this went too far and caused her to be hospitalised. Along with this she also had social anxiety so she tended to stay at home alot. Her parents were wondering where they went wrong, why she was like this. As a result they made Mackenzie get councelling to try and help her but it didnt work. She felt like she didnt belong anywhere. She didnt have a place, a thing to live for.
Mackenzie tended to be very suicidal and depressed but today shed had enough. Shed been planning her suicide for atleast a year, she knew exactly what she was going to do. She thought no one needs her, no one would miss her. 'I dont even have any parents' she cried 'no one will care if i go.' She laid on her bed and ripped a page out of her Maths book and began to write;
'Dear Mr&Mrs Waters, I am very sorry to have to tell you this but as you are reading this note i will be dying. Dont try to save me because its for the best. I cant handle this world anymore. All the stress and the bullying, its awful. Thankyou for always being there and trying to help me but I really have no reason to be here anymore so its best for me to just go. I never told you I was depressed or anorexic or suicidal because I was afraid youd give me up knowing what I was. Its not your fault, at all, its the worlds fault. Its society judging me, telling me no matter what I do il never be good enough. No matter how I look il never be pretty enough. Its hard for me, especially as i have no biological parents.
I will miss you loads, when youre thinking of me look out at the moon and Il send down a pure white dove to guard you. I love you, From Mackenzie.'
It was 12pm, Mackenzies parents had not seen her all day so began to panic. Her bedroom door was shut. Worried, Mackenzies dad slammed the door open sending a vibration through the house. It was empty. Her mum saw the note, on the front it read 'Mum and Dad.' They opened it slowly, scared of what may lie inside. Mackenzies mum began reading. A tear immediatley came to her eye. Her husband held her and comforted her while they continued reading the note. 'Shes gone' her mum said. They laid there for an hour trying to get to grips with what had happened.

Mackenzie shivered. She knew any moment now her parents would see the note. 'No regrets' she whispered to herself. She knew how many people she would be hurting by doing this but in that moment it was just her against the world and the world had won. She moved closer to the edge of the bridge. Her foot slipped. She regained balance and stepped forwards once more taking in the surroundings. The beautiful sea of red and sliver moved rappidly beneath her. The tall buildings in the distance stared at her, their lights brighter than a star.
She knew this was what she wanted, what she needed to do to escape this life of endless pain. She took a deep breath. 'One...two...three..' She jumped. She hit the ground breaking several bones and hitting her head. She bled to death on the highway.

(at the Hospital)
'Mr and Mrs Waters, i need you to confirm that this is Miss Coles body' the doctors words making them tremble.
'Yes, thats her' her dad said bravely hugging his wife tight.
'We are very sorry for your loss. Miss Cole died due to loss of blood from her head, we assume it was suicide, do you know anything about it?'
Her parents looked at eachother. Her mum shook her head unable to force any words out of her mouth.
'Okay well if you have any information please let us know' Again Mackenzies mum was speechless so just nodded. It seemed unreal that their beautiful daughter was there one minute then gone the next. As Mackenzies school and friends began to find out sympathy messages were flooding into her parents phone and people shared memories with Mackenzie and their thoughts about the incident over social network. One read 'Mackenzie Cole; a beautiful young lady who will be forever missed. She touched the hearts of many. We could never have seen this comming. R.I.P Kenzie<3 14.04.98 - 17.06.15'
