It was a hot summer night. You stood keeping watch over the entrances of the Camp, pacing back and forth. You cursed Corporal Levi quietly for making you stay outside when you could've been sleeping for about 3 hours by now. He usually makes guys keep watch, but for some reason, he decided a girl should do it, on the day she worked hardest.
"I've been cleaning all day because of the damn neat freak and now he's making me stand watch, god I'm tired as HELL!" You muttered under your breath.
Your thoughts stopped abruptly ask you heard footsteps behind you. You turned around to see a familiar brunette approach.
"Oh Eren, it's just you..." You said quietly.
He smiled and placed a hand on your shoulder. "You mind if I keep you company, (f/n)?"
"Eren I can do this by myself, you should be sleeping." You said, a bit concerned.
"You've worked hard today, the least I can do is be a friend on a lonely night."
You sighed and looked around. "Levi's gonna be pissed if he catches you sneaking out in the middle of the night to 'be a friend' to me."
"It's not sneaking out if I'm helping you keep watch." He said, his green eyes meeting with your (e/c) ones. He took his hand off your shoulder and stood next to you, looking out into the distance.
You looked up at him. "Thank you." You said quietly.
(TIME JUMP BECAUSE I CAN)
After about an hour or two of small talk and sometimes complete silence, you were standing on the left side of the gate, and him to the right.
You turned away from looking at all the trees and let yourself gaze at Eren. He stood so peacefully, not showing a trace of sleepiness. He looked out straight ahead of him, so determined, so strong. You spent a moment to stare at his eyes. Green, but at the same time blue, with a tidal wave of memories behind them. "Eren?" You asked suddenly.
His face suddenly turned from determined and strong to soft and gentle as he broke his gaze away from the view in front of him. "Yes?" He said very quietly.
You hesitated to ask your question. "Why did you want to become a part of the Scouting Regiment?" you said almost as quietly as he did.
He turned back to the dark blue sky ahead of him and let out a long sigh. "Even before I swore to avenge my mother's death (Spoiler if you haven't seen the first episode sorry), I was fascinated with the idea of going outside the walls." he answered, calmer than you expected. He was known for having a bit of a temper.
You kept your eyes locked on him. "What do you think is out there?" you asked, a dreamy tone in your voice from just imagining the great things that the world could hold.
Eren hesitated a bit. He looked around, and then strode over towards you. standing close enough for you to feel the heat radiating from him. "Before I speak to you of this, you must promise not to tell anyone." he said, arms crossed.
You nodded, and he looked around again, making sure no one was in earshot. He let his arms fall to his sides and sighed. "Armin had this book," He started, "Filled with knowledge of the outside world. (ANOTHER SPOILER XD) It said that there were rivers of fire, and lands of ice. Exotic plants and animals and more things that haven't even been discovered yet." he said.
You stared up at those eyes of his, processing what you just heard. "It sounds amazing." You said, breathless as if Levi had just made you run laps.
Eren chuckled softly, looking out at the landscape before him. You stared up at his face. The small smile on his face, the green eyes full of wonder, it made you just keep staring. He turned his face back to you, with a different expression that seemed even softer than before. A caring expression. "What do you think is out there, beyond the walls?" He asked, shifting a bit closer.
"Everyone says it's so dangerous, but..." You stood there quietly for a moment, gathering your thoughts and staring up into his face. You crossed your arms, and looked down at the floor. "But... I don't want to believe them." You stated quietly.
You suddenly felt Eren's hand on your face, as he tipped your chin up, so your eyes met with his. He moved even closer, so that your crossed arms were against his chest. "You don't have to." He said, so it was barely audible.
And then his lips were against yours, his his hand still on your chin. You uncrossed your arms, closed your eyes, and rested your hands against his chest. He let his other hand wrap itself around your waist, pressing you closer against him. You both stopped, and stared at each other, letting your (e/c) eyes melt with his.
Not wasting another moment, you stood on your toes and pressed your lips against his. You felt him smile through the kiss, and the hand that was on your face moved to the back of your head. You laughed a bit while catching your breath, which wasn't long before he pressed you back against him. Your head filled with wonder and a new light flickered on that made you feel so-
"Hey! You two!" shouted a stern, familiar voice.
You and Eren both jumped apart as the figure of Corporal Levi strode towards you, a flashlight pointing in both of your faces. "What do you think this is, some make-out session? Jeager, you're not even supposed to be out here!" Levi shouted, looking at Eren.
"Sir, I was just keeping (f/n) company while she was on watch-"
"Oh you were doing more than just keeping her company." Levi said, narrowing his eyes at Eren. He turned to you. "And I expected more out of you, (y/n)." He said.
It was awkwardly quiet for a moment. You realized that Eren's hand was still around your waist which made your face redder than you thought it already was. Eren noticed it as well, so he took his hand away, his face becoming scarlet as well.
"Both of you go back to your rooms, I'll keep watch, for it seems I'm responsible enough to do the task." Levi growled. You and Eren both walked past him. Levi rolled his eyes and muttered something under his breath before leaning against the gate.
Eren grabbed your arm before you departed to your room. "We can finish that some other time, if you'd like." He said with a mischievous glint in his eyes, and a sly smile. He pecked you on the forehead before going to his room, leaving a tingling sensation in your stomach.
