The next day flew by. Everyone was shocked at Vanessa's change in style, looks, and attitude. Even teachers were shocked, staring and eyeballing her awkwardly in awe. Her conversion was a big one, and people noticed.

She got an enormous amount of compliments and before she knew it, she was at home, and in the morning, her grandparents would arrive. She was so happy. She hadn't talked to her grandparents in forever.

She spent the day with her ear buds in, blasting music, while cleaning up. Her dad walked around the house, but it looked like he was in a hurry to get a lot done, as if he was trying to hide something. She felt something might be up, but immediately scratched and dropped that thought, considering that he was her father and would always care for her and those they both love.

Vanessa was a fan of Mariah Carey, and began to sing along to the song she was currently listening to, "Your Girl", as the chorus approached.

"🎧Gonna make you want to get with me tonight, I'm gonna put those naughty thoughts into you mind🎧".

She began to get louder and a bit more obnoxious.

"🎶I'm gonna show you clearly I should rock your world, you're gonna know for sure that I should be your girl🎶".

Her dad walked past the room, scowling at her with the most fierce facial expression she had ever seen from him. She immediately stopped singing. He then grabbed his jacket and told her he would be back, hugged her, and left.

She stopped her music and eased downstairs as soon as she saw the vehicle pull off. She looked around and moved the couches. She picked up a decorative cup and took the lid off. She noticed something odd and strange: a sewing needle. It had a small frayed piece of baby blue fabric left on it. Her dad never sewed or made anything, so why would he have this?

She placed the cup back and slipped the needle into her pocket. As she did so, she heard the car pull into the driveway. She started back up the stairs.
