Money, properties, assets, connections, abilities, and fame. These are just a few of the many things possessed by one of the most well-known families in the Mafia World, the Vongola Family. Name it, they have everything. But, as any other people would, there is something they really cared about: POWER.
"To conquer the world" was the sole reason why Vongola Famiglia was even created. They have always desired the kind of power that allows them to subdue anyone, even the entire universe. Not until the second successor diminished it all. Nine generations had passed, but Vongola's new advocate remained the same: to help the people. Being known for the incredible skill and potential of their leaders, the Famiglia remained on top of the chain--
However, change is inevitable.
"How quickly can time fleet its way? I didn't realize my reign would soon come to an end," he exclaimed, staring out the glass-tinted window he had just installed, well, a week ago. Gazing at the view where all of his accomplishments are visible just added more coolness to it, he thought. But just like what he said, the clock is indeed ticking, and soon, his, will run out too. But the empire needed to stand still, a new emperor will soon arise. Holding a picture in his left hand contains the future he anticipated seeing. The tenth boss of their Famiglia.
"What's with the drama? You still looked fine to me." Emerging from the shadows, a man in an orange suit replied. The other only chuckled as an answer, still facing him back, he abruptly threw the piece of photograph towards the man.
"You never fail to amaze me sometimes, do you?" he asked the man who, surprisingly, caught it with ease. "You and your silly tactics," he replied.
"But mind you, it's not only 'sometimes' it's more like "all the time." He added, an evident smirk written on his face. He sure is confident with his skill, doesn't he? The older man thought so.
"So, what's the deal with this brat? New target?" the man asked, his gaze fixed on the photograph of a typical-looking student with wild brunette hair as the other waltzed its way back to its swivel chair.
"You can say that, though more like he is your new mission." Putting more emphasis on the target made the other raise his eyebrow a little. Looking attentively, he became more serious about the topic. "How should I proceed then?"
The man smiled, and what he said perplexed the suited man to no end. "Get him ready to become the next heir."
It was one of those rare occasions when this person questioned himself. Did he hear him right? Will this certain boy really soon be in charge of... everything?
Looking at his confused subordinate, he took advantage of the opportunity to continue filling him in on. "Meet the 10th, Tsunayoshi Sawada; all the necessary information is in this file... you might want to check it," he said as he handed the file, prompting the man to read it, which he did right away.
He knew it was bound to happen, but it was still too unexpected. Why, after all, him? He has a lot of other candidates from which he can actually choose, then why would he choose a boy who has never even heard of this organization? Tons of questions flooded his mind but he only choose one question to satisfy them all.
"Are you... sure about this?" he asked curtly, hesitation written all over his face. Only a smile from the elderly gentleman is all he received. Based on their background checks, this boy appears to be a wimp who barely performed well with such simple tasks on a daily basis. How can you expect someone like that to rule over a Mafia organization, not to mention carrying the next generation? To him, it's like putting a mouse in a lion's den. Helpless, pointless, and useless.
The old man simply placed his hand on his shoulder, perhaps as a sign of courage and assurance. "I now fully entrusting the future of this Family to you, Reborn, and it is now in your hands to guide him," he replied rather than answering his question.
He only stared at him, still skeptical about the plan, his boss only nodded at him and give a reassuring smile. With hesitations lingering on his chest, he agreed to do it. He may not trust the kid, but he sure has a lot of faith on the 9th. It was his boss after all.
"It is my honor." He bowed, showing his respect. "Now I must depart, as this will undoubtedly be a long journey for me," he added, bidding his farewell, and walked away.
For a brief moment, the man gazed at the now-closed door before speaking to himself. "Wishing you the best of luck on your journey, Hitman—or should I say Tutor Reborn?" The man laughed at his own words, but still hoped silently that everything would be fine in the end.
"I hope it's not too late." He said before closing his eyes.
