We all know the story of Winter and how she lost her tail because of a crab trap, that is her survival story. But the story of Jack's is more of surviving one incident it's a story of surviving and thriving.
During my spring break I went down to the Keys and visited the dolphin research Center (DRC). When I was at DRC I always learn as much as I can and Jax's story is one that I know by heart. So when I was in the facility I had the opportunity of telling a few people the amazing story of Jax. It was very funny because the people that I told thought that I actually worked at DRC. Just to make it clear I am not a part of DRC I am a senior in high school that is graduating this year.
When Jax's was just a calf he was swimming in the ocean and was attacked by a shark. He lost part of his dorsal fin (the fin on top of his body)
and part of his tail fluke.
Since the day he was rescued he has not been able to fend for himself because he was so small when he was attacked. After a dolphin is rescued at a young age then they can't find food or defend themselves in the wild, they are taken to a forever home. DRC was the perfect place for Jax's forever home. Jax's gets to meet a lot of soldiers because of his story. He gets to swim with them, he gets to show them his tail, and he gets to talk with them.
If you want to see Jack's in person then go down to DRC down in Grassy Keys Florida. Jack's will not be the only dolphin you see that has an amazing story.
