Chapter 26

Kaylor's POV

"What time does your plane leave?" I stare at my laptop screen, with Jack staring back.

"2:30pm. It's only takes us 1 1/2 hours to fly to LA. What about you babe? When does your flight leave?" His smile lights up his whole face, which in turn makes me smile.

"Our flight leaves at 12:30. We've decided to stay at the airport and wait for you, and then head to the beach house." I giggle.

"I'll be there. Oh I can't wait to see you babe. It's been a very long 4 months. It feels like it's been 20 years!" We both laugh.

"Haha well if it's been 20 years then I'm 36!" He smiles again.

"And then I'm 37 too! Wow I think we need to get married if we are that old!"

"Married? Jack we've known each other for-" he cuts me off.

"Over 4 months. Baby I've already told you that I love you. I just have to get you on board." He flashes his beautiful smile and I melt.

"We've talked about this Jack. I just need time. And anyways, we are too young to get married. I'm still 16 for another month."

"And then could I marry you?" He cheekily asks.

"Maaybee....baby I'm not ready for that yet. 24 is the perfect age to get married, in my perspective." I giggle and hope he gets the hint.

"Well then I'll just have to propose when you're 23, so we have a year to plan." He laughs at my shock, because he actually got the hint!

"Wow I thought boys were stupid!"

"They are, every single one of them except me. You got the only smart one in the world."

"Smarter than Steve Jobs?"

"An infinity times smarter. And you are an even bigger infinity times smarter than me. We make a perfect team."

"There are infinite numbers between 0 and 1. There's .1 and .12 and .112 and an infinite collection of others. Of course, there is a bigger infinite set of numbers between 0 and 2, or between 0 and a million. Some infinities are larger than others..." I blush and Jack chuckles.

"See, I told you you're smarter than me!"

"I didn't write that, it's from a book called The Fault in our Stars by John Green. It's amazing, you should read it. I promise you'll cry."

"Bring it to LA. I'll read it, I promise. Now, it's very late, and I want you to be in good spirits when I see you tomorrow. I love you. Goodnight." He blows a kiss at the screen and I pretend to catch it.

"Goodnight."

The next morning I awake at 11:00, just in time to finish packing and get ready before we have to leave. I text Nash telling him that I'm up. He doesn't respond, so I know he's still sleeping. I change into denim short shorts, my grey Jack and Jack t-shirt and my red vans. I pack the rest if my summer wardrobe, because I'll be spending the rest of the summer in LA. I also pack Tfios, just for Jack. Nash texts me just as I zip up my suitcase.

Ready?

Ya, I'll meet you at your house

I bring my bags downstairs, give my mom a hug and a kiss and walk over to Nash's.

2 hours later

"Hey Kaylor, are you hungry?" Nash interrupts me in my flight movie and I nod, pointing to the chocolate. He gets two and gives one to me, a Coffee Crisp, my favourite!

"Thanks Nash!" I give him a hug and then return to Lord Of The Rings; The Return of the King.

By the time we land, I'm so hyped up on sugar that I'm jumping in my seat.

"CAN'T WAIT TO SEE JACK!!!" I scream and run out if the plane. I make it to the baggage claim before Nash (what a surprise) and grab our luggage. I have 1 huge suitcase and a carry-on and Nash has 2 suitcases plus another bag "for his cameras". It's funny, he has more stuff than I do.

By the time Nash arrives, it's 3:45, so I drag him to Gate 17, Jack and Jack's gate. I'm all settled and ready to jump up and give my boyfriend a happy reunion, when my phone rings. I take it out of my pocket; unknown number. Still, I answer it.

"Hello?"

"Hello is this Kaylor Summerston speaking?" A friendly female voice asks me.

"Yes." I say nervously. What if she wants to kill me? I give Nash a nervous look.

"Well I just wanted to inform you that your father is missing in action."

She says rather calmly.

"H-he's missing? What happened?"

"Yes, ma'm I'm really sorry. We don't know the details yet. There's nothing we can do but wait."

"If he's found, will you call me?" I ask.

"Absolutely. When he was training dear, he wouldn't stop talking about you. You're really special to him." With that she hangs up.

"What was that all about?" Nash asks me, worry in his eyes.

"D-d-ad-d...m-missing-g I-in action-n." I manage to stutter out before bursting into tears.

"What? Oh Kaylor I'm so sorry!" He hugs me.

"I don't want your pity Nash." I sniffle. I notice that people are starting to come through the gate entrance.

"Well, someone needs to love you. Oh look, here comes the perfect person now." Nash says while giving me one more hug. He let's go and I just stand there, tears running down my face.

"Guess who?" Two hands cover my eyes, but quickly come off, once he feels my tears.

"What wrong baby?" Jack spins me around and wipes the tears off my face. I try to talk, but I am overcome with grief and can't answer. He gives Nash a look and he mouths, I'll explain later. Jack puts his arms around me and just holds me while I sob.

"Is it about me?" He asks, lifting my face up. I shake my head. "Something to do with family?" I respond by burying my head back in his chest and sobbing even louder. I stay there in his arms, for what seems like forever.
