*BEEP BEEP BEEP* was the first sound I woke up to when I opened my eyes. I laid there, starring up at the ceiling trying my best to drown out the irritating sound. I sighed, finally turning on my side and clicking the button on the corner of my yellow alarm clock. '7:31am' I read on the dull red screen. Groaning, I wiped my tired eyes, trying to motivate myself to leave my comfy blanket and warm sheets. I had stayed up way too late last night trying to finish my paper for French class. "At least I got it done and I will finally have this break from school" i thought to myself as i pulled my body up into a sitting position. Today was the last day of school until a three week break all us students get to help re-group and bring back some sanity into our lives. I walked to my tiny closet, pulling out a pair of light washed jeans, a striped top and my hunter boots. Simple...but that's me. I checked the weather outside my window and to my surprise it was raining again. This was the third day in a row it has rained and honestly, i'm not complaining. I've loved the rain ever since i was a little girl, it gave me a sense of calm and the smell was heavenly. After brushing my hair and teeth, I grabbed my favourite red raincoat and headed out into the common area to get breakfast. I lived in a small dorm building just a mile away from school. Most students had roommates but I lived alone. I didn't mind though, the room was smaller than the others but I didn't need anything big or fancy. I sat down at a small table and began eating my breakfast. I watched as other students hurried about either grabbing food, running to class or just chatting with friends. I don't have many friends, my best friend, Margaret, who i had met in our freshman year, was currently in London for a family wedding. I wonder how she is liking it there? It must be so different from this small town. As I finished up my breakfast I got up from the table and began my walk to school, leaving the busy and chaotic atmosphere of the common area and into the serene silence of just the rain drops hitting the pavement and my raincoat.
I arrived to room 20D with a few minutes to spare and took my seat in the back right corner by the window. The room was on the ground level of the school and it had a beautiful view of the forest that lined the south side of the building. More than a few times i have missed large portions of a lecture by getting distracted looking outside. Professeur Delt walked in just on time, as per usual, and the lecture started.
Half way through the lecture, Harry, a tall, lanky, brown haired boy who sat in the desk to my left poked my shoulder and whispered "hey, can i borrow a pen?" This was very common of Harry, yesterday was a sheet of lined paper, the day before that was an eraser. Does he ever come prepared? I bent down to my right and reached into my backpack searching for one of the many blue pens i had stuffed in the side pocket. Once i was able to grab one i pulled it out and lifted my head looking outside. I furrowed my eyebrows together when all i saw was a single red balloon slowly floating in and out of the trees. My eyes followed the balloon until suddenly, it just stopped in place and stayed perfectly still.
"(Y/N) you alright?" I heard Harry whisper behind me.
I turned around quickly trying to comprehend what i saw. "Yeah, i''m fine. Here" i handed him the pen then turned my head back to the trees, but the balloon was gone.
