Have you ever felt so helpless, so vulnerable that your heart beats uncontrollably in your chest as if it's trying to run away. I breathed heavily and my eye darted the rooms surrounding me despite not being able to see anything, the cold sweat dripping from my skin which crawled every time i heard a noise, i was helpless.
Josh helped me waddle along the corridor, he shone the light in the darkness, it didn't light the way too well so we were pretty much blind to where we were going. I heard a cackle and the distant sound of a door slamming. I tried to ignore it, God know i tried, i gasped, inhaling the air and it was only when i did that that i realised i wasn't breathing in the first place. Josh's grip around my waist grew tighter and tighter as time went by and i wasn't sure if he was trying to reassure me or if he needed reassuring. We made it to the end of the corridor where there was a door that needed to be opened. Josh let go of me and i focused all my energy on not falling to the ground. He tried opening the door and when it wouldn't budge he tried shoving it, still it wouldn't move.
" Shit, the door's locked", Josh said, he then took his flashlight and used it to look at the map. I noticed that his hands were shaking, so his bravery is an act after all. I took ahold of his shaky hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. He smiled and giggled at me, a nervous laughter.
" Okay, we're going to have to make a little detour. Theirs another way toy get to the basement but it's on the other side of the building", he said quietly. I closed my eyes and focused on my breathing to calm myself down, i could do this.
" Okay, l..lets, go then", i stuttered and wrapped my arm around his. We walked together back down the corridor and back up the stairs. We heard a blood curdling scream coming from a room nearby, we both stopped and looked around. There was no one there and eventually the screaming stopped. We climbed the stairs quickly at first, but we slowed down as we got to the top. I looked through the door before opening it and stepping out into the corridor of the ground floor.
" Nah nah na na nah", a woman's voice taunted us from afar. I let a whimper out as i tried to compose myself and convince my legs to move forward. Josh held onto me tightly and together we slowly made our way down the corridor and turned into the common room. I noticed that instead of sprawled out over the room the tables and chairs were now laid out in rows as they were supposed to be, the games set up properly and the chairs tucked neatly under their allocated tables. I then heard music, i slowly turned my head towards the sound and saw an old record player, playing classical music. I thought about how this was pretty much how it was back in the day, people would come in here and waste away while the music played in the background and you would tell the time based off of how many times the same record had been played since you walked into the room. We walked through the common room together in silence when i heard something behind us, i looked around to see a wheel chair. It wasn't there before that was for sure.
" Just keep walking, try to ignore it", Josh said and squeezed my hand tighter, pulling me along. I heard a screech of tires and then Josh was on the floor, having been ran into by the wheel chair.
" Oh my God ! Josh are you okay ?", i asked in a blind panic and knelt beside him. He panted heavily on the floor, he threw his head around as if he was head banging and yelped out.
" What ? What is it ? What's wrong ?", i asked. He didn't answer. He finally stood up and smiled at me as if nothing had happened. I noticed something different about him, the colour of his iris was now a light yellow/gold colour, he was no longer the shy, scared boy i was with moments ago, he had an aura of confidence and mischief about him.
" Josh ?", i asked, stepping away from him a little.
" Yes ?", he questioned. He took my wrist and pulled me back towards him, wrapping his arms around my waist.
" Are we going to move or...?", he asked when he let me go. He held my wrist tightly and continued walking, that wasn't Josh, i didn't know what was wrong but that wasn't Josh.We walked into another hallway where there was a row of rooms, inside there was equipment, like a bed with straps attached to it, different metal tools displayed neatly on a tray next to it etc. I felt extremely uneasy being here, something was off about the whole situation. Josh stopped outside a room and blocked the hallway, he pointed to the room gesturing i should go inside. I shook my head and backed away but he grabbed me and pulled me into the room, i screamed and kicked at him, but he was a lot stronger than me. He threw me onto the bed and tied one of my wrists down to it. I jumped up and tried to free myself but he had already grabbed my other hand and tied me down.
" No, no, stop it !", i screamed. Josh stood over me and held my head still, looking down at me sinisterly.
" Josh! Josh! Don't do this, please !", i begged. He grinned evilly and stepped away from me, humming a tune to himself. Tears were streaming down my face and i screamed and struggled around on the bed.
" Hush little faggot don't you cry, the doctor's gonna shock you until you die", he sung loudly enough so i could hear him. I started sobbing as i heard rustling behind me, he then came back with two panels he held either side of my head.
" Shh shh", he hushed me, the panels made contact with my head and a wave of energy coursed through my whole body, making me tense up. I lost control of my entire body as i writhed around, he did it again and my brain felt like it was shrinking inside of my skull, again and my vision got blurry and i felt myself slipping out of consciousness.* Josh's POV *
We were walking through the common room together hand in hand, i had been trying to come off as strong and collected in attempt to keep Tyler calm, i could feel the poor thing shaking beside me as i dragged him off through the asylum. I felt incredibly guilty for making him do this with me, i manipulated him, used his crush on me as a way to get him here so he could help me and i felt extremely guilty. I heard a noise coming from behind us and i turned around to see a wheelchair. I could tell that Tyler was freaking out so i told him to ignore it and we continued walking. I then heard the chair screech and before i knew it i was on the floor, i felt the weight of someone on top of me and for a split second i thought it was Tyler but then my vision went blurry and my brain felt like it was about to explode in my head, i blacked out.
When i woke up i was standing over Tyler, i had two panels in my hand and his eyes were closed, his whole body was limp on the bed he was tied to. I let the panels drop beside me and i ran over to the side, untying him.
" Tyler, wake up. Tyler!", i called out, lightly tapping him on the side of his face which was damp with tears. Fear coursed through me, i checked his pulse and was relieved when i discovered he was still breathing.
" Tyler please wake up, i'm so sorry, wake up", i begged. Tears were cascading down my face as i shook him lightly, he was unresponsive. I didn't know what to do, i couldn't leave him there, i would just have to wait with him until he woke up, if he ever did...•A.N•
