Jeremy stayed in school for detention so I decided to go to the Grill and eat something before going home. Damon must be having some major Elena withdrawal. When I parked at the town square, I saw someone that looked like my brother talking to Sheriff Forbes, so I walked to them and, to my surprise, it was Stefan. "Steffy!" I smiled and jumped into his arms.

"I missed you too, Mia." He let go of my embrace and looked me in the eyes with a smug look on his face.

My smile faded and my expression turned into fear. I recognized that smirk anywhere. "Silas..." He nodded and I glared at him. "Why are you possessing my brother?"

Silas laughed at me. "I'm not possessing Stefan." He took a step closer to me and caressed my cheek. "A few months ago I told you to see what's right in front of your eyes." He grinned and I could see the amount of darkness in his eyes. "Stefan was my shadow self... You see, I truly care about you, almost like family."

I took a step back. "Stefan was... You killed my brother?!" My tiny hands balled into fists and I trying hard not to cry in front of my enemy.

"I wouldn't say that I killed him... He's just dying and coming back to life." Silas' smiled in amusement.

I turned around and headed towards my car. I had to tell Damon that Stefan has spent the past few months being tortured and constantly dying. That must be a nightmare and I have to save my brother. I knew Silas was dangerous but I never imagined he'd be so sadistic.

"Damon!" I yelled as soon as entered my house. He was nowhere to be found but when I reached the living room, I saw someone I deeply hate. "What are you doing here?" I asked, slightly angry.

Katherine Pierce stood there right in front of me and gave me a weird and confusing look. "I'm not here to harm anyone." She coughed. "I'm sick!"

Elena gave Katherine the cure and she was now human. To me, that wasn't punishment enought, but knowing Katherine I'd say she's suffering. "Still, you didn't answer my question." I glared at her. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to ask for protection." She sat on the couch and sighed. Katherine looked so defenseless. "In my 500 years, I made my fair share of enemies and if they find out I'm human now, they will come for me."

I rolled my eyes and grabbed a bottle of bourbon. "When you're an evil bitch, it's easier to make enemies than friends." I poured two glasses and handed one to Katherine. "You know that no one in this house likes you. Why would we protect you?" I took a sip of my drink after sitting next to Katherine.

She looked at me and shook her head. "I know I did terrible things, but I also know that I helped a few time. Besides, I've been having dreams about Stefan and I know he's in trouble."

"Yeah, Silas said that Stefan has been tortured for the past few months."

Katherine looked at me with fear in her eyes. "Silas is here? In Mystic Falls?" I nodded and she panicked. "He can't find me! Silas wants the cure and right now I'm it. If he finds me, he will kill me."

I raised an eyebrow. "Is that such a bad thing? I mean, you did kill Jeremy and released Silas. You should be punished for that."

"Isn't being human punishment enough?" She flailed her arms. "You have Jeremy now and you're happy." She looked into my brown eyes. "Please, don't let Silas get to me."

"Fine, but you owe me." Katherine nodded and then smiled at me. I was already regretting my decision to help my nemesis but we did have a common enemy. Silas...

Matt and Jeremy took Katherine to safety while I decided to follow Silas and keep track of his plans. I learned a few months ago that Silas is motivated by love so it got me thinking. Maybe his lover wasn't as dead as we assumed. Also, I'm hoping that by following him, I could get Stefan's location and save my brother once again.

When I reached the town square, Silas was on stage talking to the town. Everyone came to listen to Mayor Hopkins' speech, but instead they got Silas. Honestly, at this point, my heart was racing and my head was aching like he did when that monster possessed me. Except, this time it wasn't because of possession. He was trying to get inside my head. Leave! I heard a voice say and I knew it was Silas.

After his speech, Silas killed Mayor Hopkins in front of everyone but they all stood still like what just happened was normal. By the look in their eyes, I realized they were compelled. Damn! Silas was powerful enough to compel an entire town at once without even blinking. I was already afraid of him for what he did to me, but now I am terrified.

Silas walked across the people and grabbed my wrist in a gentle way. "I told you to leave!" He was furious.

I looked at him and a small tear escaped my eye. "You killed an innocent person and compelled the entire town. You're a monster, Silas!"

He smirked. "I have my goals, Mia." He stepped closer to me. "Where's Katherine? She's the Cure and I need her." I shook my head in fear. "We both know you hate her and you don't care if she lives or dies. In fact..." Silas tucked a strand of my red hair behind my ear. "...you wouldn't mind if she died. She killed your boyfriend for me and I brought him back to you."

"Bonnie did with her magic. She died protecting this town!" My voice was cracking while reminiscing her sacrifice.

Silas smiled. "Where do you think she got the power from?" He sighed. "You were in pain when Jeremy Gilbert died. I read your thoughts. So, I decided to reward you by bringing the love of your life back." He then grinned softly. "But I know he's not exactly the love of your life."

My heart was almost beating out of my chest at this point. "Why did you do that for me?"

"Because..." He cupped my face with both of his hands. "...I care, Mia."
