It has been 3 years since the clan named me Explorer. Whirlwind and I have found and mapped many islands. Today was supposed to be a normal day, except Whirlwind got into my supplies and ate all the food I had packed. So now we were flying to the Northern Markets. Unfortunately, Whirlwind couldn't come with me, not with the mysterious Dragon Hunters constantly around. If they saw a Skrill, they would not hesitate to take him. So there I was, in the middle of a crowded market, looking for supplies and doing my best to not look suspiciousand stand out. Because, you know, a scrawny red-headed viking with Skrill scale armour, ( shed scales of course) something like that would stand out anywhere. But with all the shifty people and deals going on, I doubted that would be a problem or that anyone would notice me. After almost an hour of searching, I found the vendor I needed. I examined the fish, but someone was already there. He was a little bit taller than me, maybe the same age, a bit too skinny in my opinion. He had jet black hair, darker than night, and peculiar silver eyes. "Two large sacks of Icetail Pike," he ordered. "Why so much of that one fish? What, are you planning to feed a dragon?" I laugh. He shoots me a glare that sent shivers down my spine. There was a weariness behind those pale eyes, and a need to survive, pain similar to what I had been- He turns around, startling me out of my thoughts, and says, "I would appreciate it if you would let me keep my business to myself." I awkwardly chuckled, hoping to break the tension. "Wow, I was only joking. Kind of." He rolls his eyes and mutters "Whatever." He didn't seem like a dragon trapper or hunter. I decided to see where he was going. I mean, come on, how hard is it to follow a skinny kid hauling two giant bags of fish behind him? Apparently very hard. He ducked away into the crowd and some how vanished, but his tracks didn't. I continued into the crowd, following the tracks left by the sacks, when someone knocks me onto my back. "Oof," I gasp, the wind knocked out of me. I sit up, and see a tall dragon hunter testing the weight of my baton. It is my weapon of choice, having both offensive and defensive capabilities. "This will fetch quite the pretty penny, don'cha think?" The hunter lets out a loud laugh just before I land a kick behind his knee. The hunter goes down, dropping my baton. I twirl it as I pick it back up. "You are very lucky, if I was in a bad mood you would not be able to stand. Ever. I don't take kindly to thieves." I was getting fed up with this place. People were starting to crowd me, seeing the commotion, and I had lost the mysterious silver-eyed kid. I was done and ready to go. I let out a piercing whistle. Whirlwind bursts out of the trees and charges through the scattering crowd. I jump on as he barrels past and we take to the sky. Below I hear various shouts of "Dragon Rider! Shoot her down!""Odin's name is that a Skrill?!""Don't let it leave!" I laugh as we fly high above the boats and out of range of any weapons. I sigh, happy to have supplies and be out of that wretched market. However, something catches my eye in the distance. "Is...is that a skrill?" Windstorm, having better vision than me, chuffs in agreement. As we get closer, I make out a shape on the skrill. No, riding it. There was another skrill rider?! The realization hit me. The rider was the strange silver-eyed kid! He really was feeding a dragon with that fish. I had a feeling that we would meet again, very, very soon.
