I was running late for work once again. I stopped for what I thought would be a quick coffee run to Starbucks. Damn was I wrong. I had been standing in line for 20 minutes and wasn’t even close to have my order be taken.

I looked down at my phone, 9:05, Shit. This is the 2nd time this week I would be late to work. The first time was because I slept right through my alarm. Now this. On this rate I am heading on a one way trip to Firedsville.

I quickly texted my boss telling him I would be running late. I made up a dumb excuse saying my cat pissed on the floor and I had to clean it up so it wouldn’t ruin my new hardwood floors. I didn’t even own a cat but hell what did he know.

Finally I moved up a few inches and was only 5 people behind the register. I started looking around and something caught my eye that was new to the Starbucks scene.

It was a new worker. He had gorgeous bright blue eyes and brown hair that spiked in all the right places. Usually I was not into this type of thing, but I had to admit he was a nice sight to see.

I stared at him until there was only one person in front of me in the line. I could now read that his name was Louis. He looked about my age, 20. He saw me looking at him and smiled as he caught my eyes with his own.

I smiled back embarrassed that he caught be checking him out but I couldn’t help it. As I looked deep into his eyes I noticed how truly blue they were. Like the ocean in the carribean, they were truly magical.

I broke eye contact with him as I realized it was my turn to order. I stepped forward and pressed my stomach against the counter.

“Ello Love, What can I get for you today?” Louis voice was like heaven through my ear drums. I took in his sound before quickly snapping myself out of my trance to answer him.

“I’ll have one Vanilla Bean latte with minimum foam.” I replied with a smile.

“Coming right up” Louis said with a wink and went over to the machine to make my latte.

About a minute later he returned with my latte. “That will be $3.65”

I nodded and took out the exact amount from my wallet and handed it to him over the counter. He smiled and opened up the register putting the cash inside. My receipt was printing shortly after, meaning I would have to walk away from this gorgeous man.

He handed me my receipt, but not my latte just yet.

“So love, before I give you this latte of yours, you need to answer 2 questions for me” He said with an adorable laugh.

“Alright.” I said with a laugh and a small chuckle.

“First, what is your name?”

“Tabby” I said with an even bigger smile then before, suddenly feeling shy and pushing a loose strand of hair behind my ear.

“Okay, well Tabby. What are you doing later this fine evening.”

“Nothing.”

“Now you do. Meet me back here at about 8 and I am going to show you a good time.”

I agreed as Louis wrote down his phone number onto the cup that contained my latte. He then handed me my cup and smiled. I returned the smile and headed for the door.

As I made my way towards work, the smile that Louis left on my lips was present. I stared at the 10 digits that were written in his lovely handwriting on my cup and sighed.

Today wasn’t going to be so bad after all I thought to myself.
