I went home after my first piano lesson and immediately went to my piano. I studied the keys and how to play some of the basic songs. I was so excited that I didn't stop practicing till I learned at least one song. It took about 3 hours but I finally picked up the keys on one of the songs. I was so excited that I wanted to tell someone but I didn't know who. I didn't have many friends so I had to resort to my mom when I was excited.
When I was typing the message to my mom I realized I had the instructor's number. I hesitantly typed his number into my contacts but deleted it.
It was pretty late and I didn't know if he'd be awake by now so I put my phone down and got ready for bed. I did the usual routine. I washed up, brushed my teeth, and got into really comfortable pajamas. I got in bed and laid there for a while. That's usually what it took for me to sleep.
"You're a natural."
I woke up after hearing that one line. "I did not just dream about my piano instructor." I sat up and rubbed my sleepy eyes. I hesitantly got out of bed and into the bathroom. I got ready for class by just throwing on a white skirt and a slightly oversized black sweater; tucked into the skirt. As for footwear I just put on some plain white shoes.
I grabbed my bag and headed off to school.
On the way I stopped by a local coffee shop and grabbed a donut and a coffee. I sat in the coffee shop since I had 25 minutes till I actually had to be on campus. I just stared out the window and watched people walk by. One person looked familiar from across the street. I couldn't actually see their face, so I didn't know who it was.
The person came running from across the street and that's when I knew who it was. "Mr. Min?" I whispered to myself. He looked like he was coming in so I checked on my black phone screen to make sure I looked alright. "What am I-" I put my phone down in shame. I sipped on my coffee and went back to minding my own business.
A small bell above the door rang and I looked over at it. He had came in, he was ordering. He was waiting and looking around, for a place to sit I guessed, as the barista made his coffee. I pulled out my laptop from my bag and started on an essay I forgot was due today. I would glance up and him from time to time.
This time when I looked up I noticed he was staring either at me or behind me. Then I realized I was sat in a back corner. He came walking this way and I plastered my attention on to my assignment while I sipped on my coffee. "Hi." I looked up and there he was, standing right in front of me.
"Uh, hi." I put my coffee back down on the table and looked up at him. "There's no other seats. Mind if I sit here?" I shook my head. "No, not at all." He sat down and I went back to my work. I glanced up and noticed him staring at me again. "What are you working on?" I looked up at him again. "An essay." He slowly nodded his head as his gaze turned to the busy streets outside the window.
"Yoongi?" The barista called from behind the counter. Yoongi turned his head towards them and got up. He payed for the coffee and took it. I'd assumed he was going to head out after that but he came back to the table we shared. I looked back up at him and he did the same to me. "So, are you coming to your lesson tomorrow?" I nodded as I drank my coffee.
"Have you been studying?" I nodded again as I went back to my essay. I finally finished and then glanced at the time. I had 10 minutes to be on campus. And it's a 12 minute walk to my class. "Do you come here oft-" I gasped really loud. "I'm so late!" I stood and closed my laptop. "For what?" Yoongi stood in front of me.
"Class! It was nice seeing you Yoongi but I-" He grabbed me by the shoulders. "I can give you a ride. Calm down." I took a deep breath and nodded. "Thank you." He turned and we walked over to his car that was across the street. "Where to?" I gave him directions and we were off.
"Can I see your phone real quick?" We were at a stop light. "What? Why?" He was still kind of a stranger. "I need to call my phone I think I lost it." I handed it to him after unlocking it and going to the dial pad. He started typing and eventually called. His phone was in the back seat. He typed a bit before handing it back and I was a bit confused.
"Here, call me if you need a ride back. It's dangerous walking alone." I took back my phone and looked down at it. He had added himself as a contact. "Okay, thank you." The light turned green and we were on our way to my school.
"I remember being back in college." I looked over at him as he smiled. "I'm 25 now, so I graduated a while ago." Dang, he's a whole 7 years older than me. He doesn't even look that old. "So have you been giving piano lessons since then?" He glanced over at me then back at the road.
"No, I'm a composer and a producer. I work with a few friends of mine to write and make music." My eyes widened after that. "What?" He laughed when he saw my expression. "So you must be really famous right?" I was intrigued at this point. "Ah, kinda. But we don't have time for that because we're here and you're late." I looked forward and realized he was right.
I hopped out of his car and ran for it.
