Winter dragged herself to the window and tried to jump away, but it was no use. She was trapped. And had been.
Childish wails sounded from the walls beyond her prison cell. The girls. Winter had noticed them running around, impressing people with their vast minds. These were no ordinary children, so of course they were captured.
"Hello girly," The voice of Ms. Harthon sneered. She was the person who had acted as a modest genius. "Just a little experiment today." She had been torturing Winter since she was captured, and there seemed to be no end to it.
"You will not do anything to me," Winter said, knowing, at that moment, that she never should have abandoned her friends. "I may be hidden from the world, but they are not hidden from me. You may be hidden from them, but the truth is, nobody is hidden forever."
