The one spike that can change everything in my life was happening, my heart started to pound harder than the average man, I didn't feel an emotion, but what I did feel was many emotions crumbled into one, the ball seemed to be going in slow motion. I got into my stance and started running, then I leaped, I leaped like a lion trying to catch is pray, my arm rose like I was about to hit someone, but I came short, I hit the net with a full body blow. All I remember is lying on the ground listening for a cheer from the crowd but all I heard was the ball bounce right past my head. I lay there in complete shock of what just happened, the crowd even was silent in agony. I slowly got up with the help of my teammates, they lead me to the bench, which is where I stayed for the next half-an-hour, crying, there was no sympathy coming from the other teams players, but that was not the worst part, the worst part is looking up and seeing my coach growing in anger and clenching his fist, it was then I knew I needed to leave. Why was my coach so angry? You may ask. Well, this game was the one chance of keeping his job as a coach, and I knew I had just lost the game, which was for his job, his family, my teammates, and the United States of America.
