Krystal clung tightly to her bag as she tiptoed down the stairs. Once she thought the coast was clear, she made a rush for the door. “Today’s Sunday. Where are you going?” Her father’s bold voiced boomed behind her, making her stop.
Krystal nervously bit her lip and fidgeted with her bag strap as she turned to look in his direction. “To work.”
Her father became angry and started walking towards her. “Didn’t I tell you to quit that job?” He opted for sitting in the chair beside her. “Also, did you apply to withdraw from your school?” Krystal quickly avoided eye contact. Her father took this as she hadn’t done what he said. “When did you stop listening to your father?”
Krystal pouted as she walked in front of him. “Dad, I don’t want to emigrate.” She whined.
“We’re all emigrating. Besides this house, I’ve sold it.” He said coldly. “Why should you stay here alone?”
“Dad, because of your job, you need to emigrate. But I don’t want to change my life. This place has my friends and my…” Her father instantly stopped her.
“Your life should be with your family!” He yelled.
“I want to stay!” Krystal yelled back.
Her father stood up and gave her an angry stare. “Go quit your job.” He said through clenched teeth before walking away. Krystal was left hating him for not listening to her, or even trying to give her a chance.
As she slowly walked to her job, she was lost in thought. She pulled out her phone and dialed the one person she needed to talk to most. “Hello? Krystal?” Hearing Jin’s voice, she quickly hung up the phone in her nervousness, but to her surprise he called right back.
“Hello? Oh, Jin.” She tried to keep the sadness from her voice, but even she knew she wasn’t doing a very good job at it. She walked over to the nearest building and leaned her head against it. “I dialed the wrong number.” She lied when he asked why she had hung up.
He could hear the unhappiness she was trying to cover up and became concerned. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Krystal lied again.
“But you sound kind of down.” Jin said.
Krystal was happy that he noticed. “I’m just worried about Lonna and Suga.”
“Why?” Jin asked.
“Because they went to a hotel together.” She said.
“What?!” Jin yelled in the phone.
Krystal was surprised by his reaction. “You don’t think that’s ok? But Jin, if two people love each other, then shouldn’t they be together?” Honestly, she was slightly scared of his answer.
