After waking up so damn early, all I can think of doing is wandering for awhile... Well, that's why you're in Osaka anyways, Yuta.
I decided to go to a park nearby to take some rest after my unexpect morning saunter. It was empty at this time of the day, who would've want to be so up early in 3 am?
I settled on an empty bench, hoping nobody sees me. I fix my mask and lower my cap a bit more. I don't want to grab attention on what was supposed to be my vacation, for goodness' sake!
Earphones plugged in my ear, and sad songs playing in my playlist makes the scene so nostalgic. It was that time of the month where cherry blossoms fall and everything seems to be so picturesque. The scenery captivates me, it gives me soothe and warmth in my soul.
"Onii-chan~" a faint yet sweet voice whispers in my ear, which led me surprised. I turn my head and saw a girl sitting beside me.
"I'm sorry if I shocked you! I'm so sorry" she apologetically smiles as she slightly bowed.
"It's okay, it's okay" I examine her body, well not in a sexual manner, you idiots! She had soft and bouncy tan-dyed hair, wonderful natural brown eyes, and pale skin. She was wearing some sort of uniform, which looks oddly familiar to me.
We exchanged smiles and soon we introduced ourselves. Her name was Fujioka Ahmya, and she's 4 years younger than me.
"I know it's a bit weird but... can you help me find my shoes?" she utters shyly, preventing eye contact. My attention draws to her bare feet. How could someone lose shoes whilst wearing them though?
"I can just buy you a pair-"
"No!"
"Why not?"
"Those shoes are really special to me, that's all that I can say."
"Okay then... sure, I'll help you" I smiled at her, and I saw her smiling at me too.
"Thank you!" she repeatedly bowed and thanked me.
jeez, what special shoes they are!
"Where did you last see your shoes, Ahmya-chan?" I ask her as she happily skipped.
"Uh... I'm really not sure! I think it was in our school?"
"Wait... Our?" I stopped at my tracks and looked at her.
"Yeah, our school. Don't you study at Yashima Gakuen High School? You dumbass!"
w-w-w-what? Is she a stalker of mine? She's getting very creepy!
"Shall we continue?" She asked.
Despite of the uneasy feeling I get from her, I decided to continue helping her.
After a long walk, we soon arrived at the campus. It was very dark and it seemed that no one was around yet.
"Let's sneak in!" she whispered in my ear, and I agreed to her plan, oblivious to what risks I'll face.
Fortunately, sneaking inside was easy as pie, but we do have to move quickly and find her shoes.
"Ahhh... wait, I'll just look for something here." She told me as she opened a classroom door.
She stops infront of a table with a lot of writings and etched sayings.
"Go die!", "Nobody loves you", "Weirdo!", "Creep!". These were some of the things written in that table.
On top of that table were an assortment of dried out and newly placed white flowers. Aren't white flowers only given to dead people?
wait... no...
I immeadiate notice a strip of white paper taped on the desk. There was her name,
[I] "Fujioka Ahmya"
"It's your desk, right?..." I murmured.
She only replies with a nod.
"L-l-let's just find my shoes!" she uttered, only a faint hint of cheerfulness to be found.
[I] she was so cheerful... how could someone as optimistic as her, face such a cruel treatment?
We exited the classroom, and headed to find her shoes.
"I remember now! My shoes are in the rooftop!" She exclaimed and we hurriedly went to the campus' rooftop.
"There!" She runs to grab her shoes and I follow her.
She picks up her shoes and I notice a piece of paper fall.
I immeadiately picked it up, and even though I wasn't such a nosy person, I felt an urge to open it.
I skimmed through it and I realised what it was...
[I] a suicide letter from her
shoes...
white flowers...
letter...
wait the f*ck up.
"Wait, you're dead!" I blurted out.
"I'm sorry! I don't... I'm really sorry!" Tears started to roll down her cheeks.
"I regret commiting suicide, I still want to live. I'm really sorry, I'm messed up I know!" she loudly sobs.
"Before entering the afterlife, there's a belief that those who would commit suicide would leave a pair of abandoned shoes behind. I just figured that, maybe, if I wear my shoes again, I would live again!"
"Then let's try it, you dumb ass!" Calling a stranger you have just met 'dumb-ass' might be rude, but she definitely is.
She wore the shoes,
and now she's gone.
[I] it worked.
