Elanor waited patiently for the wolves to get far enough away. It seemed as if time was ticking away inside her. Then, all at once, time was up and Elanor exploded. From her hiding space, she threw herself at Cor, yelping with tears in her eyes. Cor backed away a bit in suprise. Elanor then stood over Mentis's body and had her eyes set on Cor. "Get away!" She screamed "If you come any closer, you'll have to kill me to! Because I will die before I let you touch him anymore!"
"Fox, I-"
"Shut up!"
Elanor then cried, and cried some more. Cor stood there and looked at her, struggling to keep it together. "Good job, Mentis. You're a real professional" Cor said
"Well of course I am." Elanor shook and, with eyes wide, she turned. The owl got up and ruffled his feathers. Elanor's rage turned into happiness. She started springing with joy, licking Mentis and yipping everywhere. Then she stopped it all together and looked at Cor, mindlessly. It was silent. Everything seemed so still. "I suppose you look for an explination." Mentis said. Elanor nodded but didn't take her eyes off of Cor. It was like she was trying to peices him together in her head. "Well, for start. Cor created this plan last minute. Granted I thought I'd die there as well, but he whispered to me to play along and so I did. The effect of blood was by these" Mentis then held a branch with berries on them. "All I did was hold them mid level to me and he ate those instead of me"
"They tasted disgusting"
"You'll be fine, Lupes. Yet, isn't in fascinating what you can do with just berries? "
Cor then laughed a bit, and started to look at Elanor again. Elanor then stepped a bit closer. "Why?... Why didn't you eat him?" she asked, her voice was already filled with sincerity. "I don't kill for sport or ego. Only when im hungry will I ever kill. That, or to protect others. It's the way of the forest. You kill what you need, and only that.
Elanor then realized it all was true. She could tell by the truthful glint of light she saw in his eyes, that his words were all true. Elanor stepped closer to Cor, close to the point where she was looking directly up at him from where she stood. Nobody muttered even the slightest sound. Time trailed on as the breeze rustled the plants and grass around them. Elanor then let a smile slip from her. "Im sorry, ok? I-"
"Hey, dont even mention it. Theres no way you could have known." Cor said, now smiling as well.
"Excuse me" Mentis says, breaking the connection. He was looking up to see the stars still brightly shining in the sky. He then looked at the two of them. "Lupes, we actually came to find you. You see, we were behind the big tree you and your pack had the hunting rally in front of. We ran from being eaten and eventually we were taken off course of Vulpes's home."
Cor glanced at Elanor "you both were there? I'm surprised nobody detected you."
just then, a sweet yet strong voice came from the bushes. "I wouldn't say that" it said. At that moment, everyone shook and stopped everything, as if their very hearts were turned to ice.
