I learned when I turned a little older that if a person approached you first, you should appreciate and acknowledge them, unless of course if it doesn't feel right. To some, it would take them a lot to have the courage of making the first move.
"What's your name?" I inquired. I wasn't paying much attention when my friends were talking about them a while back and I wasn't able to ask what his name was.
"Kairos."
"Kairos?" I confirmed. Tila hindi makapaniwala. I was even more curious now. I wonder if he knows what his name means?
"Do you know what your name stands for?" I asked curiously. Without a word, he raised his brow as if waiting for me to spit out what I know about it.
"It means an indeterminable portion of time," I informed him in a matter of factly way. "Or, pwede rin naman na 'moment'," I added. The tip of his tongue slid across his inner lower lip and the surprise in his eyes didn't escape from my sight. I smirked.
"Where did you get that?" He arched a brow at me while he took a sip from his cup.
"My cousin. He loves Greek mythology. Na alala ko lang." Actually, it was my cousin who introduced me to the Greek gods and goddesses but it was my interest in time that leads me to know what that foreign word signifies. Otherwise, I won't even remember it.
"Do you mind if I invite you over for a drink?" He asked casually. There was a glimpse of hope in his deep-set tiger-like eyes looking down at me. Words rushed to my throat and the first thing that came out wasn't what I expected.
"Why?" Tanong ko nang wala sa sarili. He chuckled as he threw his head back. "I... I mean, I don't mind at all, but... why me?" There's so many ladies out here who are even more beautiful and looks more interesting than me.
"Do I have to have a reason?" Tinaasan niya ako ng kilay, "Can't it be because... just because?" he sexily beamed at me and I swear, it got me. That 'just because' got me more than his sexy beam.
"So..." He was about to say more when Jerome popped out of nowhere. "Hi!" He squeaked with eagerness. He glanced at me with enthusiasm before reaching out his hand to Kairos. I watch him introduce himself to this guy in a grey polo.
"Hi, I'm Jerome... One of Frei's best friend."
Hi, Kairos... It's nice to meet you.
"It's nice to meet you too, Jerome. Thanks." Kairos laughed.
"Well, the thing is, we already have to go.
"They're already bored and want to have some fun already." Pag e-eksplika nito.
"Which club are you going to?" Kuryosong tanong nito.
Tumangong muli si Kairos, "That's great. That's where we're headed later on, too." nagniningning ang mga mata ni Jerome bago tuluyang nagpaalam. Kinindatan niya ako bago niya kami iwan.
