Medusa was once one of the most beautiful, most desired woman of all time. No one could guess that she would possess the stare that freezes the mind, body, and soul.
Parthenon is where it started. Athena, the goddess of many things. She was the virgin goddess of war, wisdom, and purity. In being a goddess, she had many things that others didn’t possess. One of the things she had was a temple for her worship, Parthenon. Medusa was a beautiful woman, she had golden locks that fell down her back. She smelt of the beautiful chastity tree. Her eyes was as bright as the sun. But, being a priestess she could only be desired, not lusted. But that didn’t stop the all mighty Poseidon from pursuing her.
Poseidon is the god of the sea. He tried wooing Medusa on several occasions, but she wasn’t allowed to participate in such an activity. See, being a priestess, she wasn’t allowed to indulge in activities that would take away her innocence. She was the symbol for purity and chastity. One day while she was fulfilling her many duties, and tailoring to every need of Athena, Poseidon came in abruptly and took advantage of her. Not only savaging her as harmful as possible, but in the one place that would change her life forever, Parthenon. Having witnessed and heard, Athena was infuriated and didn’t know what to do. So she did the one thing that would make her regret that she had ever been the most beautiful woman on earth.
With one word, Athena cursed Medusa. Medusa, going through a traumatic experience. Her skin, shriveled up eliminating her looks. Her fingernails curled under her skin. The curse also turned her teeth to sharp daggers. While her hair not beautiful golden locks anymore, turned to slimy green snakes, which snapped and bit at anything that came close, if anything could get close, for there was one last condition to Medusa’s curse. She would also give up the power to interact with anyone ever again , for anyone who stared into her eyes, had their mind, body, and soul frozen. Her eyes turned into a serpent like style , her beautiful bright green eyes were now and forever indented with a slice of red. If you looked into her eyes immediately you would be turned to stone.
As the finally to her punishment, Medusa was banned to a remote island, where she would live the rest of her lonely life. For countless years, warriors, some of the greatest would come and go to take her head, as a use of a weapon in war. But , no matter who went or what they did , they always ended up staring her deep in the eyes. A stare that could be described as your last breathe that you will ever take. As you look into her eyes, she see’s something so deep down inside your soul that you never knew was there, some of your darker secrets. After your soul is penetrated she would diminish your mind. This comes about because you don’t have the time to think about what’s going to happen , it just does, faster than the speed of light. After all of that , comes about the final and more obvious changes, your body is nothing but a solid pile of stone, just another statue in her garden of death.
Over the years her collection grew. She was never defeated, nor did she plan on being defeated. That is until one almighty demi-god was sent on an extravagant mission to not only save his mother, but to put an end to the abuse that he was taking from his king. Medusa was as always slithering around, one could say an anaconda was lurking about. The demi-god had a shield that was so clear and shiny that it reflected a clear image of anything it shined on. As he was creeping backwards as quiet as he could, a tactic not yet used by any other, he stumbled upon a fallen warriors shield. Without skipping a beat , Medusa turned her head and as quick as Zeus’s thunderbolt she slithered over to where she heard the noise. Looking around and completely oblivious to what her surroundings were she didn’t see it, until to late. As she turns to where the demi-god is standing she sees a reflection of herself in the shield, and with just one glance of her own eyes, she makes a horrendous screeching noise that pierced the ears so. The noise was so loud and injuring to the ears that the trees ducked for cover. The winds were howling and the clouds rolled over the sky. With the final transformation, she shed out one tear and was frozen to stone.
Medusa now felt the wrath of her own curse. She was frozen and set to stone for all to see. Except, instead of her gorgon form, the curse was taken back, and she was the once beautiful priestess she was before.
Medusa was once one of the most beautiful, most desired woman of all time. No one could guess that she would possess the stare that freezes the mind, body, and soul.
