Many people are fascinated by mythology. It surrounds all of us, whether we believe it is real or not. Children love it when adults tell them about a story with magical creatures and fairy godmothers, or a prince swooping in to defeat a fir-breathing dragon. Then,we will believe that it is real. However , as we grow older, we tend to not believe them anymore. We say things like ' That's just a silly old bed time story that my mom used to tell.'
However, this is different. It is 2118 now, and those myths you are told about? Like Theseus and the Minotaur? Medusa? They are very much alive. Greek monsters from the myths hunt down demigods like me. Jeon Jungkook . Son of Zeus. My other parent? I don't really know her. Left me at this magical place called Camp Half-Blood, where she apparently grew up. I recently discovered the identity of my dad last month, I think. So far nothing that interesting has happened, though I met six other boys that are my best friends now. I heard a weird tale at the campfire a week ago, and it has been on my mind till now.
The tale goes like this. There were seven young heroes, just like me and my friends, wh are called the 'Heroes of Olympus' . Sounds awesome right? But no. Their life is the definition of tragic, but how they died, was even worse. They were murdered by the worst way possible. Percy Jackson, the Son of the Greek God of the Seas,Poseidon was stabbed by his own sword 'Riptide' before he was drowned. What? How can a child of the ocean drown? There is worse. His girlfriend, the daughter of Athena the wisdom goddess, watched her own boyfriend drown before she to was murdered by a thousand owls, flying down from the air and started using their sharp beaks to rip her apart. Not exaggerating here. Her best friend, Piper McLean, Daughter of Aphrodite the love goddess, was tricked into believing that her own boyfriend and friends turned on her and left her to die . She went crazy, and convinced herself to jump of a cliff. Her boyfriend, the one and only Jason Grace , legendary Son of Jupiter, was slashed three times before zapped with lightning. His closest friend, the Son of Hephaestus, the Blacksmith god, Leo Valdez was burned alive. Hazel Levesque , Daughter of the Roman god Pluto, watched her beloved horse Arion die before she was hit by thousands of her own gold and silver, the cursed ones. She died from heartbreak and of course her own curse. Lastly, we have Frank Zhang, who apparently saw his family members one by one being murdered by their own kind and died. Not before he was attacked by every single animal he has shape-shifted into. Yikes. But how did this happen? The Gods told us that Percy Jackson was stripped off his powers, thus he could drown.The owls that attacked his Girlfriend Annabeth Chase came from nowhere. One thing in common, they all happened in America. Right under the gods's noses. But how do they know that?
