Jeremy decided to come with me to my family's crypt so I can pay my respects to Giuseppe and Lily Salvatore, my parents. After being turned and tricked by Katherine, I never once visited the crypt in fear of being caught. Also, I felt betrayed by my family.
"Are you sure you wanna do this?" Jeremy asked while holding my hand.
I nodded. "Of course. I mourned both my parents and it doesn't hurt anymore." I smiled at my boyfriend and opened the crypt, stepping inside the cold and old place. My family had a flair for the creepy scenery.
Jeremy looked around the crypt and smirked. "Your family was... Well, interesting." He stumbled on his own words and it was adorable.
I chuckled at his choice of words. "You mean creepy." My eyes locked with his. "Back in my day, this was normal. Everyone important had a family crypt."
"And your family was very important." Jeremy nodded while I wiped some spiderwebs from the name plates.
My eyes widened as soon as I read my parents' names. I put two white roses on top of their names and smiled. "Mother, father... All this time I tried to suppress my true feelings about the both of you but it's time to come clean." I sighed. "You taught me to hate vampires and do everything by the book, but never once, did you think that maybe this hate would consume me." I felt Jeremy's arm around my waist. "For years I hated the monster I had become and all I could think about was how disappointed you would be." I wiped a tear from my cheek. "That's over now. Love is stronger than hate and I'm glad Katherine turned me just so I could stand here today and tell you how hurt I am. You should have taught me to love." I turned my back and Jeremy held me in his arms.
I leaned my head against his chest and he ran his fingers through my red hair. "You turned out so good and kind in spite of the education you had." He kissed the top of my head. "You're tough as nails, Mia Salvatore."

Damon was laying on the couch when Jeremy and I walked into the Boarding House. "Where were you, sister?" He asked with a smirk. My brother could be so annoying sometimes.
I rolled my eyes and sat on the couch, putting his feet on my lap. "We went to the family crypt so I could pay my respects for our parents."
He glanced at me and then tossed the newspaper on the floor. "Well, I will never pay my respects for someone like our father. He was the true monster, not the vampires." Damon chuckled. "I bet you wouldn't be his favorite anymore if he actually had lived to see you turn into a blood sucker."
"He was our dad despite all of his flaws." I fiercely defended our father. He wasn't a saint and always seemed to treat Damon as a bastard, but Giuseppe Salvatore was our actual father.
Damon rolled his eye and then looked at Jeremy who hasn't said a word since we left the crypt. "What's up with him?" He pointed at my boyfriend.
"I'm just sick of keeping things from Elena. She deserves to know!" Jeremy spat in anger, but I did agree with him.
Elena and Stefan appeared behind Jeremy and she folded her arms over her chest. "What are you keeping from me?"
Jeremy looked at his sister with a sorrow expression. "Elena..."
The eldest Gilbert stepped closer to her brother. "Tell me, Jeremy."
I nodded at my boyfriend and he held both his sister's hands. "Remember at graduation when Bonnie dropped the veil?" Elena nodded. "Well, she died that night and she made me promise not to tell."
Elena stepped back and I could tell she was fighting back tears. "But I've been texting her all summer."
"Actually..." I held Bonnie's phone and handed it to my friend. "You've been texting me." I sighed as soon as Elena started crying. "We felt terrible but Bonnie wanted to spare you and Caroline. I'm sorry!"
Damon walked over to Elena and held her on a tight embrace. "Don't be upset! They were just trying to help."
She didn't say anything but I could tell she was heartbroken. Her best friend died and no one had the decency to tell her. On the other hand, we were trying to honor Bonnie's last wish.

At the graveyard, Elena, Caroline, Stefan, Damon, Matt, Jeremy and I decided to honor Bonnie for Remembrance Day. She was our friend and sacrificed herself for all of us. Elena was devastated and never stopped crying. Damon tried his best to comfort her, much to Stefan's dismay who wanted to be there for his ex-girlfriend. Matt was holding Caroline when Tyler showed up and took his place. Care was surprised to see his boyfriend, since he left town in order to get revenge on Klaus.
"I can't believe Bonnie died." The young Lockwood said while looking at Bonnie's picture.
Jeremy was holding my hand and then a tear streamed down his face. Bonnie and Jer used to go out and he was in love with her. I was never jealous of their close friendship because I knew Bonnie respected our relationship. "Someone should say something about Bonnie."
I nodded and stepped away from him. "Well, I didn't know Bonnie as well as you did, but she was a good friend and she was never selfish. She died protecting us all and I think she doesn't regret her decision, wherever she is." I glanced at Elena, who was listening carefully. "Bonnie Bennett was strong, fierce and loyal. She loved life but she loved all of us even more. So this is for Bonnie... Our true savior."
Everyone smiled and Damon put his arm around my shoulders. "I'm proud of you, Mia."
I looked at him and smiled slightly. Jeremy walked over to us and cupped my cheeks. "Bonnie said she loved your little speech and she agrees with you. She would definitely die for us all over again." Bonnie was a true hero and she didn't deserve to die. I wish there was a way to bring her back.
