It was nights like these that Blue loved her Raven Boys the most. The Pig was obnoxiously loud and Ronan's music obnoxiously explicit. She knew all of Henrietta could probably hear them, the Aglionby boys, the ghost boy, and Blue roaring through the small town, with no destination in particular. This didn't seem to bother Gansey at all, who's hand somehow held the shift and Blue's hand at the same time, or Ronan, who sat much closer to Adam than necessary, or Noah, who's head was out the window with his face towards the stars.
The darkness was calming, and Blue was left to her own thoughts. Somehow, Blue thought, she had fallen in love with all of them. Gansey, being Gansey, had brought these five incredibly different people together, "and I love them all." Blue smiled to herself in the darkness.
It could have been days until The Pig rumbled to a stop, but after all, time is a circle, not a line, and it didnt particularly matter to any of them. Four Raven Boys and one Blue tumbled out onto the thick grass. Blankets were procured from who-knows-where and strewn on the ground, followed by Gansey, Blue, Adam, Ronan, and Noah.
The stars shined brightly with no city lights to dim them, and the trees were tall guardians in the night protecting the small huddle of blankets and teenagers at their base.
"What if we never leave?" came a small voice from somewhere in the pile. Blue recognized it as Adam. "What if we forget Glendower and Aglionby and everything and just live here with the trees and the stars?"
Ronan snorted. "You really think Dick III is going to forget his knight in shining armor? He won't stop looking for Glendower until he finds him or drops dead"
From under a fuzzy green blanket came a quiet voice. Gansey. "He's right. Sometimes I wish I could just forget him, but I can't. Glendower has taken control of me and I can't stop searching until I've found him."
Blue's hand snaked towards Gansey's under the blanket and she interlocked their fingers. "We'll find him. I can feel it, we're so close."
"But what if we don't, what if none of it is real, if I've imagined everything?" His voice shook with barely concealed fear.
"Then we'll move on" whispered Noah, startling Blue as he often did. "I'll disappear and Blue and Gansey will go to Venezuela or Peru or somewhere exotic. Adam and Ronan will move into The Barnes. Life will go on for you, and I'll fade away."
Blue heard the sadness in his voice. Noah was not ready to go just yet. "We will find them" Her voice shook with determination and desperation. They had to, they had to save Gansey and Noah, and Glendower was the only way.
Adam, being the only one besides Blue who knew Gansey's fate, heard Blue's voice crack and understood her fear. "We will, I know we will" he said.
"We better" growled Ronan, "I haven't spent the last five years in forests and caves for nothing" Then, with a softness surprising for Ronan, "We will."
Chainsaw squaked in agreement and Blue cuddled closer to Gansey for warmth. There, with Gansey on her left and Noah's barely - visible form on her right, Blue thought she was the happiest person in Henrietta. With her Raven Boys surrounding her and the darkness engulfing them, she could almost forget everything else.
