Kay stepped into Jeff's small apartment with her bags. It was a nice cozy place. His living room was nicely decorated and so was the kitchen. The bathroom was small, but comfortable. Their bedroom was small and only had one closet. Kay had to keep most of her clothes in her bags until Jeff got a dresser. She flopped on the bed and messaged him.
She went to the kitchen and looked in the fridge. "Damn do this nigga eat?" She asked slamming the fridge door. Jeff's fridge only contained, milk, lunch meat, jelly and a few beers. Jeff wasn't big on cooking, so he never really bought food. He always bought a burger or something from a restaurant.
Just then, a small knock came from the door. Kay set her phone down and went to answer the door. "Who is it?" She called to the door.
"Uhh...this is Mrs. Sumo. The landlord." A scratchy voice responded from the other side. Kay unlocked the locks and swung the door open.
"Hi." She smiled.
"Is Jeffery here, he told me I needed to meet my new tenant." She strolled past Kay.
"No, he's out at the moment. But I'm your new tenant." She smiled politely, closing the door.
"Oh. Well nice to meet you. You and Jeffery must be getting pretty serious. Since he's letting you stay in his tiny apartment."
"I...I guess."
"Good. So, are you paying rent?" She asked flopping on the couch with her clipboard, sliding on her glasses.
"Yeah, we're going half actually-"
"Great, which means I can double the rent since there are now two tenants." She replied while writing something down.
"So, before we go any further into this, I just wanna give you some of the rules that should and will be followed, if you wanna stay here."
"Um...alright."
"Okay, first, no noice. These apartments are full of middle aged grumpy bastards. They don't like noice, so try keeping it down to below a minimum."
"Below a minimum?"
"Yes. Which means, I want to hear absolutely NOTHING from those grumpy bastards. Especially anything that has to do with you two. Ok?"
"Ok."
"Alright. No drugs, or alcohol. That mixture usually ends with shouting young adults. Which takes us back to the first rule. No noice. No pets. No exceptions. I refuse to clean up dog shit in the hallway. It's your dog, you clean it. And if you refuse. I will personally put you out the next day. I don't like dog poop. And I refuse to clean it in the building I own. Got it?"Kay nods. "Those are my main rules. If you need to be informed about all of them. There's a poster hanging in the lobby. Check it out when you can. "
"Will do."
"Alright, I'll leave you to it. I have other businesses to attend to. " Mrs. Sumo replied, getting up from the couch and walking to the door. "Tell Jeffrey to come down to my office when he gets in, we have things to talk about. "
"Okay."
With that, Mrs. Sumo left as quick as she had come.
