Allison and I were got to our boss' office as fast as we could. He had a very important assignment for us both, and knowing his bad temper, he wouldn't wait for us for too long.
Allison was panting by the time we got to our boss' door. "Looks like this one is extremely important, eh Zed?"
"Yeah I know. This better be worth running all the way here." I was capable enough for all of that distance, but come on. "I was really enjoying my free day."
"Maybe after this, you could beg Myles to give you some more days off." That didn't sound like a bad idea. A week-long vacation at the beach would help me relax. "Some time away from all the murders and criminal chases would be great, wouldn't it?" Allison poked me in the arm with her shoulder while winking at me.
"You bet it would. Now let's get right to it." If I wanted that trip to the beach, we had to get to the point. We opened the door and found ourselves surrounded by other agents. That made me feel a little uneasy, since it would mean this mission was serious business.
Myles Hewkin, the FBi director and our boss, was sitting in his desk, full of papers and folders piled one ot top of each other. "There you are you two. Get here quickly!" I was right, he wasn't in his best of moods. As we approached the desk, the other agents looked at us with faces of concern and a little bit of jealousy.
Allison didn't waste any time and went straight to the point. "Alright boss, what kind of job do you have for us now?"
"And why are there so many of our colleagues in here with you?" I asked, curious to see what excuse he would give us.
Myles took out one of the folders and handed it to us. "I'm sure you're familiar with Phoenix Carassuillo, right?"
Allison opened the folder and made a small gesture of intrigue. "All I know is that he was in prison for more than a decade, disappeared for a few years after release and... that's it." I simply nodded, as I didn't know anything more than her about that guy.
Myles leaned back on his chair and sighed. I could see in his green eyes a small sight of let down. "That's not all about him. All of a sudden, after years of being who knows where, he decides to open an entire theme park or something."
My mind had stopped for a few seconds before I said a word. "A theme park... And that would that be a bad thing because...?"
I probably shouldn't have said that, as Myles got slightly more angry at me. "Because he's a criminal you idiot!" He then threw another folder at his desk. "The point is that, out of nowhere, he has all the money to make a damn theme park. And knowing his background, I'm sure he got it all through illegal means. No matter what he does, he still is suspicious. You and Trickler's job is to go to that place, and try to find evidence proving Carassuillo should be sent to prison again."
Allison was as confused as I was. That seemed rather unecessary, to be honest. "Alright then... how do we do that exactly?"
Myles sat down and handed us a flyer of the theme park. It's name was Wonderful Paradise. A little redundant of a name if you asked me. The flyer promised we would get anything we wanted and more, and that we would "never want to leave".
Myles got up from his chair and got closer to us. "There is a condition to this mission. You two MUST go undercover. We don't know how Carassuillo might react if he finds out FBI agents are after him. The same goes to every other agent here. They'll also go disguised with you, just in different intervals of time to avoid suspicion. Agent Wittman, agent Trickler, you'll go first to that place, and the other will follow soon after. That's all."
Allison and I left the headquarters together and walked down the street. "This is quite the special mission, isn't it? It does feel like the vacations I wanted."
Allison laughed a little. "You better not take that part too seriously. Otherwise, Myles will have your head on a platter." That didn't sound so good. "Well, if we're going undercover, I better get my hair dyed." She played with her hair lock. "You should come with me, maybe a haircut will do you good." Ha ha, funny one.
"I'm fine, I'll just wear a hat." I liked my hair the way it was.
"Alright then, pick me up at 6 o'clock. I'll be done by then. See you Zed." Allison left to to get her hair done. It was 3:20pm at that moment, so I had plenty of time left.
"I guess I'll go pack my stuff or something."
