"Hmm, Maybe I should move it over a little...." A lanky teenager with soft wavy brown hair contemplated as he rubbed his chin with his left fist.
The 5'11, blue eyed, short haired brunette was sprawled out lazily on a red sofa. He was staring blankly at a flatscreen TV set on the floor a couple feet in front of him.
Dan huffed as he got up from his seat and began surveying the massive, empty room behind him. The enormous unlit chamber was about the size of a four-story warehouse.
Him, the sofa, and the TV were the only three things occupying the large expanse of dark emptiness.
"hmm.... maybe there's just too much room..." He muttered to himself.
"Well, I guess I could just change the sizing ratio a little bit ...." The highschooler seemed to be lost in thought as he looked across the large chamber. The four dark glassy walls of the room were gleaming with the faint light of the television set. The sound coming from the speakers created a slight echo that rebounded across the black, cathedral-high ceiling.
"Though I guess I should install some kind of carpet first....." The boy mumbled as he slid one of his socked feet against the smooth black floor. A whine of hunger squelched from his abdomen as he remembered he still hadn't eaten lunch.
"Ah, whatever, I'll just think it over later..." he concluded before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a silver, remote-shaped device.
After pressing one of the various buttons on the remote, a strange green light began to envelop him. He closed his eyes for a moment as the glow intensified. There was a tingling sensation over his skin, proceeded by a sudden 'zwoop' sound.
Upon opening his eyes, the teen found himself standing in the center of his regular-sized bedroom.
"Made a lot of progress today..." He whispered to himself as he walked over to a large rectangular box sitting on his wooden dresser. Reaching over, he carefully pulled off a protective white cloth covering it.
Underneath was a 2ft tall, 3 1/2ft wide glass tank.
The inside of the fishtank-sized enclosure was entirely empty, aside from two puny objects in the far right-bottom corner. Daniel leaned in and inspected the familiar setting.
It was a tiny red sofa and a flat screen TV set.
"Daniel! They're almost here! Help me finish setting the table!!" Called a woman's voice from downstairs.
Dan rolled his eyes in annoyance before placing the sheet back over the containment.
"Ugggggh.. I hate cousins parties...." He groaned as he remembered today was his family's annual get-together barbecue.
"What a waste of a Saturday..." The bitter adolescent sighed while walking over and peeking out the window on the left side of his room. He watched from above as a couple of cars and a mini-van drove up to the sidewalk directly in front of his house.
"Theeeeey're heeeeeereee~" Dan whispered satirically to himself.
The tenth grader watched anxiously as the doors of the mini van trust open and group five of kids came storming out excitedly. Most of them were wearing swim suits and were likely looking forward to take a dip in the backyard pool.
"Uuughh, guess I should probably just get it over with..." Dan sighed as he stored away his remote device in a locked drawer. After taking a moment to make sure he wasn't forgetting anything important, the teen gloomily walked out of the room and headed down the staircase.
