August 28th, 2017- Houston, Texas
Ashley's POV
Today has been the worst day of my life. First, I find out that my brother Jason was moving out and going to college IN A DIFFERENT STATE. Second, I get moved up into level 7 gymnastics. Wait, let me tell you the whole thing.
12 Hours Earlier- 8:28 AM
I had waken up for school and when I went downstairs, my parents were sitting at the table with my brother.
"Sweetie, we have something to tell you. Your brother is going to college. Outside of Texas."
I looked at him and he was smiling at me.
"How could you?"
I then ran back upstairs and locked myself in my room. I got ready for school and gave my brother the silent treatment until I came home.
Going to school was not fun for me. Mainly because I got bullied by Mackenzie Fuller, the meanest/ most popular girl in our grade. Calling her a mean girl was an understatement, she was a killer shark in brunette hair extensions and lip gloss. She hated my guts , for some reason I will never know.
Back in 7th grade, she put a ketchup packet on my seat and when I sat down, it made me look like I started my period. Then she embarrassed me in front of the whole school by dumping my tray on me and "accidentally" spilled coffee on my head.
When I walked into first period biology, I saw my crush, Morgan Fagundo. When I saw who he was talking to, I was completely shocked. It broke my heart a little bit to see that he was talking to her. She looked at me then scoffed.
"What are you looking at freak?"
I quickly looked down and went to my seat. Our teacher started the lesson and then while I was writing notes, I got a note passed to me. It was a note from Morgan. It said ' i'm sorry for Mackenzie. she can be a little mean at times. ' I wrote back on it saying ' at times ? yeah okay . it hurt me to see that you were talking to her. ' i passed it to him and then he scoffed and wrote on it back . 'if i dated her, that would be incest. i like a different girl . you.' when he passed it back, I gasped, causing the whole class to turn and look at me. I shoved the note in my backpack, ignoring him the entire period.
When first period was over, I walked quickly to my locker and took a breath. My bestfriend, Maria's locker was right next to mine and when she came, I put in my combination and then ranted. I put my biology books in my locker and got out my algebra books. After I finished ranting, I grabbed my phone and texted my brother.
To Bubba 🐧💙: can you bring me lunch
I then put my phone back in my locker and turned around. My locker was very cute and I spent a lot of time putting it together. I also helped Maria put hers together.
That was my locker and Maria's locker was a bit weird but I liked it.
The bell rang and that meant it was time for me to go to class. I grabbed my algebra books, my phone and my backpack and headed to class. I didn't know what the rest of this day would hold, but I was ready for it.
After School- 4:28 PM
After school is always gymnastics, every single day. I hated going to gymnastics sometimes because of Mackenzie but today, I didn't care. Whatever she threw my way, was going to come right back at her, fighting fire with fire.
I put on my green leotard and put my hair into a bun. When I got there, we were seeing who would move up into level 7. Today was a test. We were throwing cartwheels, roundoffs, aerials, back handsprings, front handsprings, front tucks, and full twists. I was going up against Mackenzie and when it was time for us to do our twists, I was a bit nervous because nobody in level 6 or level 7 had landed a full twist yet. When I went to throw it, I did a roundoff, backhandspring, then I went for my twist.

I can't believe I landed and Mackenzie didn't. All the coaches had looked at me and so had everyone in the gym. Everyone praised and applauded me and then my coach walked over.
"WE HAVE OUR FIRST LEVEL UPPER. ASHLEY DORMENS, LEVEL 7!"
My whole face dropped in a matter of seconds and I was terrified. Level 7 was going to be the hardest thing and I'm not saying that because of the tumbling.
After Gymnastics- 7:27 PM
I sulked the entire practice and when my brother came to pick me up, I got in his car and told him about my day.
"I move out next week so we're going to drive to Colorado which is 11 hours in the car and you're gonna drive with me."
I nodded and then thought about him leaving for college.
When we got home, I didn't bother to eat because my whole appetite had dropped. I got in the shower and then went to sleep, ignoring my parents, brother and never ending notifications.
