I was awoken all of a sudden, sharply intaking a breath. I clutched the sheets that were below me, releasing them once I found them particularly dusty.
Below me was what I had assumed as a bed, a poorly made bed. It wasn't colourful at all, seeing as the bed was egg shell white, while what would be supporting the bed was actually copper.
Looking around, I could see I was surrounded by dark, decayed wooden walls. Down the wall to my right, I could see a glass pane window, tinted with shards of colours. Analysing it further, I discovered it actually had made a picture.Sadly I could not tell exactly what it was.
From where I was, I could tell there was a door in the left wall, looking to what to be estimated aligned with the window. The door looked like it could've broken just by a single tap, or maybe a lot of taps. It looked really disgusting, with green stuff and what looked to be damp spots covering the sides and corners.
When I looked to where my entire body was facing, I could see how boxed the room I was in was.
I stared at my hands, which were of a ghostly orange. I found it strange, considering I had caucasian skin. On closer inspection, I could see that they were partly see through. I had gasped, fascinated with how I could see through my own hand. My gaze travelled up my arm, discovering I wasn't clothed. That had scared me a bit, considering I had just awoken naked and having no clue what had happened until now.
I placed my hands on my face, then poked my fingers into my mouth. My fingers were touching everything they could. A sigh of relief that I wasn't missing any part of my body.
Though I spoke too soon, for when I pulled off the sheets that had covered my lower half, my eyes had widened to the fact I no longer had legs. What replaced my legs was now just a tail of translucent orange.
Wondering how I would be able to walk properly, I escaped from the bed with ease. I was confused by this, for now I was floating.
It was too late for me to realise I was sinking, as I stared down at the broken floorboards where my tail had begun going through downwards. I could see the inside of the floorboards, before seeming to seep through them and see another room.
"Woah! You can't go nude here dude!" A chill, relaxed voice had soothed my lone soul. "Get some clothes on, some peeps here ain't lookin' for anyone at the moment." My sense followed the voice, as I turned to face whoever had tried to speak with me.
They shared few characteristics that we both had. That included the translucent skin and the tail for legs.
"Wh-who are you?" I had questioned, shaken by the fact there was someone just like me.
"Name's Matthew. What's your name?" Matthew had asked. "My name's Peter, Peter Smith." I smiled at him.
The comforting fact that he had no expression of seeming disturbed made me actually admit my name."Oh, we're going formal? Okay then, hah! My last name is...uh,sorry I forgot!" he laughed, as he had scratched the back of his neck.
On closer inspection, I could see his features a bit more clearly. Matthew's hair was messy, with strands of hair here and there. The colour of the mess was a soft, warm yellow, which was darker than the tone of his skin. His skin was a translucent, sandy yellow.
What struck me was his eyes, which looked more out of place but complimented his features, for it was a darkened purple.
His attire was a plain white shirt with what I assumed a swirled symbol that resembled that of a snail plastered onto it. I could only make that out, due to the fact he was wearing an oversized, dark grey jacket.
"Done staring?" I heard him chuckle, which made my face heat up in embarrassment.
"Nah, it's okay. I know I'm pretty hot." I rolled my eyes and started giving a laugh.
"I'm not into guys," I stated, as I had crossed my arms."Yeah, I was only joking. Take a joke!" he cackled, his voice cracking half through."I know, I know." I groaned, signalling I was already getting annoyed.
"Anyways, you really need to put clothes on. Don't worry! I've got-" he stopped to yawn, before continuing."Some somewhere,"Matthew had finished his sentence."Thank god," I huffed, following him.
We had arrived in another room, which looked similar to mine. I estimated that the room I woke up in and this room was closely the same size if not the same.
This was after learning how to phase and float properly. This also was after freaking out about being dead and that the afterlife was just living as a wandering soul.
Anyways, we were in what I assumed was Matthew's room. What made his room different to mine was that his bed was underneath an open window.
I had moved myself towards the window, only finding out what was in front of it was just a huge decaying wooden wall. "Wow, how fancy," I had sarcastically complimented. "Yep, pretty cool. Right?" I looked towards him, finding my lips were tugging upwards into a smile.
Obviously, I brushed off whatever he had said. I sat on top of his bed, continuing to look around.
I found myself watching Matthew go towards a closet, in which he had pulled out different clothing from."Like any of these?" He had asked me, tossing the clothes at me. Most of the clothes had fell onto the floorboards, but some I had actually caught.
I pulled on the first thing that was on the top, which was a plain orange shirt."I'll be okay with this one." I smiled at Matthew again, until he had gasped."No! That's so not cool dude. It's too plain. Seriously dude." He was judging me, sputtering more criticism."I'm fine, you're not the boss of me!" I had stood, or had floated in an instant.
