Burnt
The fiery passion,
The scorching heat,
The blood that sizzles
From head to feet.
The blistered lips,
The heart ablaze,
With fervent hunger,
And endless craze.
The overwhelming
Tongues of fire,
Melt my body
With heated desire.
But fire’s unfeeling,
So hot yet so cold,
Betraying so swiftly,
Enticing and bold.
A raging inferno,
Consuming the weak,
And scalding my face,
As tears flow down my cheek.
I’m choking and retching,
Starved of air.
Fire suffocates slowly,
With dutiful care.
Ravaging my heart,
Which blackens to coal,
Then crumbles to ash,
Leaving only a hole.
A black, empty void,
That once was aflame,
With devotion and love,
But for him, just a game.
Don’t play with fire,
You’ll only get burnt.
And with smouldering sorrow,
My lesson is learnt.
