Chapter 13

Danielle's POV

We had just arrived in Chicago. I decided to surprise Giovanni. When I got to our apartment, I realized I left my key in my room.

"Come on. We're going in through the window." Kevin looked at me in confusion, "I don't have the key."

"How are we suppo-" Kevin stopped talking when he saw that I got the window open.

"You coming?" I asked him. He nodded yes. Once we were inside, he looked around my room. The walls were a florescent green. My bed had two neon yellow pillows, and the covers were neon green.

"That's a lot of neon. Can aliens see your room from outer space?" he said, making a stupid joke.

"Oh shut up." I then hit him. "Come on. Knowing Gi, he's sleeping on the couch with the tv on." I said. Like I said, there he was on the couch, asleep. "Wait here." I whispered to Kevin.

I slowly walked to my sleeping friend. I took out my phone that was on silent, and took a picture of him sleeping. I walked behind the couch. "He looks so peaceful." I whispered. "Wake up, Giovanni! Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!" I yelled in his ear. He shot up in a panic, looking around for the person who woke him. His eyes were red and puffy like if he had been crying.

"Who's there? Who just yelled?" he asked, terrified by the sudden intrusion.

I popped out from behind the couch screaming, "I'm back bitches!" The look on his face: priceless. I jumped over the couch, and Gi caught me in a huge hug.

"Monita, you're back." he swung me around. "Why are you back so early?"

"Would you like me to leave already?" I asked. "Shit! Kevin!" I face palmed.

"Who's Kevin?" Giovanni asked me. Kevin came out from where he was hiding. "Oh, that's the guy you talk non-stop to me about." I blushed, and smacked the back of his head. We then started arguing in Spanish.

*5 Minutes Later*

"Basta! Ya! Gi, I missed you." I told him.

"I did too, but is there anyone you wanna introduce to me?" he asked, pointing to Kevin.

"Oh, yeah. Kevin, this is Giovanni my partner in crime, bff, etc. Giovanni, this is my...umm...boyfriend, Kevin." I was nervous. Gi always thought I went out with no good losers. They shook hands, which was weird.

"So, how'd you get in? Cause you and I both know you never have your key." Gi asked.

"You always leave your key in Oscar's room." I said, matter-of-factly. He was about to say something, but quickly shut his mouth.

"Anyways, do you want anything to eat?" he asked us. We nodded yes. I went in the kitchen with him.

"Are you okay? Have you been crying?" I asked him.

"Yeah. Um, Stella dumped me for your no-good brother, Oscar." he said. That is where I drew the line. I stormed out of the apartment with Kevin and Giovanni following me. Too bad for them, I got Gi's car keys.

On the way to Oscar's house, I had just turned the radio on, when the station started playing 'Lullaby' by Nickelback. I started singing the song.

"Well, I know the feeling. Of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge. And there ain't no healing. From cutting yourself with the jagged edge. I'm telling you that, it's never that bad. Take it from someone who's been where you're at. Laid out on the floor. And you're not sure you can take this anymore." The song ended, and I put the car in park when I got to Oscar's house.

I saw Stella's convertible that Gi got her. 'I'll get back to that later' I thought to myself.

I got to his doorstep. I knew he was probably with her in his room. I picked the lock, and they were on the couch. Stella was completely naked, while Oscar had his underwear on.
