Meeting Her

Sarah was delicate when I first met her, she had barely said three words to me and I'd had already begun to want to know her. Her eyes had only matched mine once by accident and I could already tell that they had seen so much and I wanted to hear all about the things they had seen. However, before you start to think that this is a story about me being in love with Sarah, then you're mistaken because I could never have Sarah and I'm not sure she ever wanted me or that I actually wanted her. I was to sit on the sidelines and help her become this person she had dreamed about becoming. With that being said, I'll take things from the start.

It was a warm and humid day. The bell had rung but you could barely hear it over the noise of the fan trying to keep the sweat from rolling off of our necks. It was the first day of school and I was the new girl. Being the new girl, wasn't actually anything new to me. My family never stayed in one place for too long. I guess you could call us nomads.

Sarah had come in two minutes late and she strongly apologized for it. I instantly had this idea in my head of what she was like and I can't say that I was either wrong or right. However, people change and old opinions wash away while new ones grow.

She took a seat to my left and one seat ahead. I began to analyze her. She had long thick brown hair with bangs that almost covered  her eyes that were green with specks of gold in them. Freckles surrounded her face so much that two ended up on her lips. You could see she had spent her time in the sun as she was so sun kissed. The thing that made me really enjoy how she looked was the beauty mark under her left eye.

I couldn't get over the fact that she was wearing this long sleeve burgundy shirt. I was dying in a t-shirt and capris. Too match her shirt, she wore a plaid brown and burgundy skirt a little above the knee with nylons underneath. After staring too long I realized my eyes had overstayed their welcome because when I came back to reality I noticed that Sarah was staring at me with an almost scared look on her face.

That was all for my first day with Sarah. Literature was the only class I had with her and I could feel an almost yearning to catch another glance of her. Now don't ask why because I at the time and still almost now, am not quite sure why I had been so taken away by Sarah. There was nothing unbelievably special about her. It's not like she overly beautiful or anything. She just had this essence too her that reminded me of something I had been missing.

The next day Sarah came into class five minutes early out of fear of being late again. I never really had anything to do with myself in the morning's so I had decided from that point on I'd go to the classroom as soon as I came to school so I could slowly watch the students drift in hoping for her to be upon them.

Today Sarah was wearing a striped shirt with high wasted jeans and I was getting a sense for her fashion. I had come to a conclusion, I was going to find a way  to get this girl to talk to me. The universe was in my favor that day. She dropped her pencil and it had rolled to my seat. I grabbed it fast and handed it to her.

    "Thank you" she said.

That was my first meeting with Sarah.
