Chapter 28: Wipe off the Blood

I arrived at Neilbolt Street in a matter of minutes. I didn't expect to see Penny but I was excited for the possibly of surprising him. I walked inside, shutting and locking the door behind me. I put my bag on the table and looked around, no sign of Penny. I took this opportunity to explore a little bit, what harm could that do? I walked down the hall towards the south side of the house, almost wanting to tip toe, even though I was alone. I came across the staircase to the basement again and contemplated going down. I decided to do it, my curiosity getting the best of me. It was dark, even darker than the last time I was down here. I couldn't see much of anything, mostly just silhouettes of the broken, fallen furniture still laying on the ground. I made my way over to the well that was in the middle of the room. As soon as I took my first step I got this overwhelming sense of dread. I crossed my arms and continued to slowly move forward. I looked over the edge, placing my feet firmly on the ground as to not slip. Then the voices came back...
"We all float down here" one voice echoed.
"Where am I?" A voice of a small child whimpered out.
"Float! Float! Float!" The voices began to chant.

   BAM! I was startled out of my trance to a loud sound coming from upstairs. My heart raced and I stood still, fearing what could appear in front of me. After a moment it was still silent, nothing happened. I finally took my eyes off the door and I looked back at the well as I ran out of the basement and back up the stairs. As I walked into the kitchen I saw my backpack on the floor in a pile of wood. The table had collapsed.
I sighed, picking it up and making my way to the room upstairs.
I sat on the mattress in the room, reading my book and eating my sandwich and that's when I heard it, the bells.
I look up to see Penny towering above me. I forget how tall he is sometimes. As my eyes reaches his face I noticed it was covered in red liquid.
I sprang to my feet, "oh my god are you okay?"
He looked down at me, his left eye slower than his right. "I'm fine, it's not my blood."
"Oh, right" I said a little embarrassed.
"What are you doing here?" He asked furrowing his eyebrows together.
"I wanted to surprise you for when you got back" I swayed from my heel to my toes and I played with my fingers.
Maybe this wasn't a good idea...
"What were you eating?" So many questions!
"A sandwich." I furrowed my eyebrows back at him"
He made a disgusted face with his tongue coming out, "yuck. Smells."
"It's good, for me" I said chuckling.
"Do you want help cleaning that up?" I asked pointing to his mouth.
He just stood there, I don't think he knew what to say...
I picked up my backpack, grabbing a packet of wet clothes that I always keep in my front pocket in case of emergencies.
"Here, sit" I said pulling out a wipe from the packet and pointing to the mattress. Penny hesitated but then complied, sitting down. With how tall he is his face was now right at my neck. I began wiping off the blood, Penny disgusted by the taste of the wipe that he accidentally licked off his lip. I tried to avoid the screaming thoughts in my mind that were reminding me that this was someone else blood!
As I was wiping I noticed the blood was coming off but his makeup wasn't.
"What makeup do you use on your face?" I joked.
Again, he didn't get it and just starred at me. It was silent for a minute before I spoke up.
"Penny?" I gulped, mustering up the courage to ask him what I wanted to.
He just looked at me, head tilted, indicating he was listening.
"Do you remember when you told me you could shift into anything?" I gulped again. "Have you every shifted into human form?" I fiddled with the wipe in my hand, afraid to look at him.
"Humans don't fear other humans." He simply stated.
"That's not true" I said raising my eyebrows, looking up at him. "It was just a question" I tried to laugh it off.
"Does (Y/N) want Pennywise to be human?" He asked, his blue eyes looking deep into mine.
"No, i don't want you to be human, I like you as you are...I'm just curious as to what you would look like, is all." I shrugged.
"Sometime." He stated.

I gave him grin, I'll take it.
