Song of the Chapter: Long Night, With Confidence

Gerard's worry instantly grew as Vic uncovered more and more about what happened upstairs. He grew to really care for Eva, and not only had she relapsed and gotten so bad mentally, but she turned to forgetting with alcohol as a way to face her problems. Gerard knew first hand how terrible that would end up. Without any hesitation he ran up the stairs and into Eva's room, seeing her lying in the bed sobbing.

"Hey E, I'm here" he said calmly, walking up to her and wiping the tears from her eyes. She looked up to him and he was scared for her instantly in that moment. He could smell the vodka in the air. "Eva, what happened?" he asked sadly and softly. She whimpered out "I just didn't want to remember how much I was hurting everyone." Gerard pulled her into a hug and tried to protect her from those thoughts.

"Eva, that doesn't help you forget. That makes you feel worse. Please believe me when I tell you this, it makes everything worse. The girl nodded and repeated a thousand apologies into his chest. "Shhh, everything will be okay. Your scars will heal and you will be better one day, but you need us to get there, and that's okay." She nodded and sobbed harder into him. Gerard laid Eva back down into the bed then went into the cabinet to get something to help the pain. He came back and handed the meds to her with a glass of water. After, Gerard laid down next to the still crying girl and sang to her until she fell into a deep sleep.

Won't you turn around and please look at me
For everything we are, everything we've been
I promise I'll be good if you stay with me

But everything we are, it just went away
With the slide of a tongue and a sour taste
I cannot recall, I can explain

But I remember the nights when you'd lie with me
Where we'd talk and we'd touch and we'd fall asleep
I wake up in your arms and I'd feel at ease

It's gonna be a long night

-flashback- (Gerard's POV)

I sat on side stage as people were flooding into the venue. I was trying to watch them but the whole world was spinning too fast. I took another few sips from the flask I had before stashing it away back stage. Our road manager was trying to keep me from drinking as much, but I would just sneak it anyway.

Tour was hard and I never thought people would depend on us like they did, so drinking calmed everything down. Maybe it wasn't that smart of a choice, but there's not much harm that could come from it.

This time when getting ready to perform though, everything felt different. It was getting harder and harder to see straight, and while I was used to an unsteadiness in the world, this was different. This was kind of terrifying, but I couldn't say anything. I was supposed to be stopping. Eventually, we started performing and after the first few songs all I know is that everything went black and I woke up in a white room with my stomach pumped and my band sitting inside scared out of their slightly buzzed minds.

Back downstairs, Vic told Sarah and Brendon everything. Brendon immediately felt like an awful parent. He tried so hard to protect her from herself, but she only got worse. Sarah tried to calm him down and tell him that he wasn't to blame, that relapse happens and a lot happened to Eva, but Brendon bought none of it. When Gerard walked back down, the father practically ran to him. "She's asleep now. The guilt and everything she's feeling just led her down a dark path that every tired kid on tour goes through. Just keep on her about eating and making sure she gets out of her head enough. She's a good kid, B. Just be there for her like you always have been." Brendon felt slightly at ease and hugged the man that was once a tired, touring kid himself. He then went and hugged Vic, Mike, Jaime, and Tony.

"Do you want us to go stay with her tonight?" Vic asked while pointing to his band mates. Sarah smiled. "That would be great if you don't mind. She can get really bad dreams after the incident with Alex's dad." She noticeably cringed at mentioning that terrible night and Brendon took notice as he hugged her tightly into his side. The four men nodded before walking up the stairs and into Eva's room.

The teen stirred a bit at their entrance before falling back asleep quickly. No one talked at first. They just watched Eva and all wondered how they ever got from where she was to where they were now. They were all once her, and they never thought they'd be the writers of anthems for people like themselves. "I have to go check for more blades," Vic said quietly while walking into the bathroom. Vic carefully dug through all of the drawers and cabinets, finding one blade and flushing it with no hesitation. Mike came into the bathroom with another in his palm and saying that they all checked her room for any others and only found the one. Mike and Vic sat in the bathroom just talking for awhile as Tony and Jamie sat in the ground and leaning against the bed. Suddenly, Eva jumped a bit in the sheets and started quietly crying.

Tony looked up to her before quickly shaking the blue-haired girl awake. "E? E, wake up sweetie." Her deep brown eyes opened and stared back at Tony. She sat up and rubbed her eyes before apologizing. "Sorry, it was just a dream. I'm fine." Jaime joined the two on the bed before adding "Just tell us what it was about." Eva sighed and looked at the two guys as they nodded their heads in an attempt to encourage her to continue. "My mom, my dad, Alex's parents, the bands, Brendon and Sarah, Theo, they were all watching me crying and laughing then Alex's dad started punching me and," she started, stuttering and crying harder at the next part before continuing "he pulled out his gun again and shot." Tony lifted Eva up and into his lap before shushing her and trying to stop her crying.

"No one can hurt you, okay? Everyone that was watching would never let that happen. We care too much E" Tony said, looking over to Jaime for him to add in. "If anyone laid a finger on you, they'd have to go through every single one of us. You're gonna be okay kid." Eva nodded and hugged both musicians. "The worst part is that I wasn't scared of the gun Tone. I wanted him to end it all. I wanted to die." After the words hit the air, Eva sobbed so hard she could no longer speak. Tony pulled her even farther into a hug as Jaime rubbed her back and called for Mike and Vic. The two brothers walked in and sat on the ground in front of the bed and Tony tried to calm her down. "E, that's okay. We will help you, it's just going to take time, and I know that's frustrating but there's no other way. We love you too much to lose you." he whispered to her. Eva slowly stopped crying and caught her breath.

"Why are you guys here anyway? There's no way you just wanted to visit out of no where." she inquired, rubbing her head slightly from the impending hang over. "Well," Vic smirked as he and Mike stood up. "We're joining all of you on tour for Europe." he said excitedly. Eva smiled wide and hugged all of them. Vic looked at his phone and saw how late it was. "You should try to go back to bed, kid." The girl nodded and thanked all of them. The guys went to the side of the room except for Vic. Eva asked him quietly if he could sing something for her. He nodded and sat next to the thin frame of a girl who was falling asleep to him singing Hold on 'Till May softly. She drifted off calmly.

See, you're just wasted and thinking 'bout the past again. Darlin', you'll be okay...
