After eating we all got ready for work my sister and I helped my dad run the shop since mom died it is a small run-down bakery on the edge of town the wooden sign hangs crooked and looks as if it would fall down any minute now. When mom was alive this place was always busy but now we are on the edge of poverty. The soap makes the small store smell like lavender which is one of the reasons I like working here. I light a small candle in the window so people know that we're open and sit down on the stool behind the counter. After a few minutes pass I see old Ms Harrington walk in she was a close friend of my dad and comes in often. She has no kids so she treats me and my sister like her children. When she was young she had bright red hair but it has now faded to gray. She has a slight limp when she walks and a old raspy voice which I find soothing somehow. She still had a warm glow in her wrinkled smile and gleaming blue eyes that lost some of their ability to see. But today she seemed different that glow was not to be found so easily.
