When I woke up, three days after the proposal, I saw Alyssa. This would be a pleasant surprise, but it was only eight A.M. I rub my eyes, "Yeah?"
She smiled, "Today, we need to pick out everything! For my wedding! In twenty four days!"
I raise my eyebrows, "Okay then." I stand up.
Alyssa is still standing at the edge of my bed, but her smile faded, "Listen, Rachel..." she sat down on my bed and patted the space beside her. As I sat, she said, "Scott is coming to my wedding. He's gonna be the best man.."
I slowly processed what she meant. I nodded, "Okay. I can forget my issues for a few days to make sure that your day is fantastic." I meant it. I can put all feelings for Scott away.
She claps, "Great! Get ready, dress shopping is first!" I sigh and stand up.
As she left, I pulled a pale yellow romper and grey jacket. I put on my white Converse and walked to pull my hair into a high ponytail. I walk out of my room as I'm applying a nude gloss. As I walk over to Alyssa, I notice she looks like a goddess. Her black hair is down and she is wearing a maroon V-cut shirt and a black, high-waisted pencil skirt. She's beaming. I smile as I wait for her to tell me that we're going to the bridal shoppe. I nod and we walk to the car. We ride to the sound of Alyssa bragging about the fact that she convinced Sky to have hazelnut, raspberry, and chocolate cake at her wedding. I laugh because she's just so happy and Sky would oblige to anything for Alyssa.
As we walk into the shoppe, the smell of perfume and new clothes hit us. As I looked around at the completely white shoppe with hints of other colors as dresses. There were a few very white, expensive looking couches and she runs toward the one that Sky and a few other boys and a girl or two are lounging on. I walk slowly behind her and by the time I reach the couch, Alyssa is sitting on Sky's lap as a woman consults her on each type of dress. I look for a place to sit and my eyes narrow when I see a girl sitting on Scott's lap. My lip turned to a sneer as he smiled at me. I shake my head, holding back tears. He found someone else. I could slap that girl, if we're being completely honest.
Instead I just walk with Alyssa to go help her put on her first dress. She picked a white one, which had a huge bottom. It was a princess gown with ruffles and beads galore. Alyssa looked at me after we put it on and I shook my head. It was way to big and did nothing to show off her thin, long body which I adored. It made her look short, too. She nodded, agreeing with me. As we got her out of the dress and pulled on another, I was taken aback. This dress was almost it. It was silky and sleek, but it had too much beading and lace. When Alyssa turned to look at me this time, I said, "How about we ask if they have one with less beading and such?" She nodded, "Good idea." I walked out while Alyssa was taking off the other dress.
I located our attendant.. the bitch on Scott's lap! I walked over, tapping her on the shoulder before I spit out, "Hey, I don't think your the bride, so maybe instead of trying to get in the groomsmen's pants, you could do your job."
She blushed beet red, standing up and spitting out, "Sorry, he seemed lonely. Maybe if you were a good girlfriend, I wouldn't need to be a replacement."
At this comment I stepped closer, "Excuse me? I don't think you need to judge my job. Oh wait, he's not even my boyfriend. So maybe think before you speak."
She smirked, "So you wouldn't mind if I.." She put herself down, right on Scott's manhood. I reached forward while Scott was interfering and I smack her. She obviously stands up, shocked. Scott starts chucking, trying to hold it back.
I smirk and say, "Anyway, Alyssa doesn't like the beading. Do you have a plain, silk dress?"
She purses her lips, "Yes ma'am, I'll get it to her." Once the girl skips off, I look at Scott and bite my lip.
He mouths, "I miss you." I shake my head and walk off. Not today. Not on Alyssa's day.
When I walk back, Alyssa has on the new dress. It's so beautiful, I gasp. "Alyssa... oh my god."
I start tearing up, she looks over, smiling. "It's the one." I nod. Alyssa sighs.
I ask, "What's the matter?"
She sighs, "I'm pregnant."
I jump up and down, grabbing her hands, "Good! Alyssa, good!" I laugh and throw my arms around her. I kiss her cheek and she hugs me, "It's amazing!"
The attendant comes in. She's a new one. "So I'm guessing this is the one?" We nod. The attendant continues, "Well, when we have a dress, we show it to the people out there by having the bridesmaid wearing it, so everyone's breath is taken away with the bride on the wedding day. Alyssa nods and I shrug.
As the attendant steps out and Alyssa hands me the dress, she whispers, "Sky texted me about the fight. You go girl." I chuckle as I take off my clothes and put on the dress. It feels like a nightgown. Alyssa squeals, "That's a beautiful dress!" I nod.
I walk out and everyone looks at me. I step onto the runway thing and advertise Alyssa's dress, "This is it." Scott stares at me with a passion as I walk off. Though awkward, it made me feel so beautiful.--------------------------
