Maria looked out at the sun gliding ever so peacefully through her blinds. She moved her hair out her face to see her clock. She smiled to see she had gotten up early for once. She pulled herself off her couch and poured some food for her cat and some coffee for herself.

As she pulled her waitress outfit out from her drawer, her phone rang. She checked the caller I.D. Thomas? Why was he calling at 5:23 in the morning. She picked up and put him on speaker as she got ready.

"Hello?" She called.

"Yo! M! What's up?" Thomas responded, way to chipper for a little before 5:30.

"Trying to get ready for work, why?" She responded, knowing something was up.

"Oh, don't get ready, I called you off!" He said, seeming proud.

"You WHAT?!?" She responded, nearly scaring her cat half to death.

"Oh yeah, see I knew Burr, your boss, wouldn't be in today cause of my awesome pool party and I told him you were coming and got you off a day. How awesome am I?" He said as if he was needing praise to get his day started properly.

"Thomas...Whyyyyy?" She said, whining as she face planted into her bed, "I need my paycheck, rent is in two weeks and the bar has been so slow recently I'm lucky Burr is letting me work his diner. I need this..." She said whining.

"No, hun. You need a day off. It's good for your soul, ya know?" He said, all cheeky.

"Look, whereas I app-" She started but was cut off.

"Cool, so, I'm here so I'm just gonna use James' key, he left his wallet at my house last time he watched my dog. See ya in a second."

"NO!" She called running for a shirt, "Thomas, I was cha-" SHe stopped as he entered the room.

Maria turned multiple shades of scarlet and red. There she was. Standing in her one-room apartment. A Kitchen towel hiding her upper body and barely covering her spandex shorts she wore to the diner underneath her dress. And then there was Thomas. Standing in front of her. Blank face. Well, a red blank face.

"Maria, I uh.." He had no words. He was kinda distraught.

"TURN AROUND! NOW!" She yelled, kinda making it clear she wanted to get dressed.

Thomas didn't just turn around. He bolted. Full of ran. He was outta there. He could not believe what he had done. She had full on said she was getting ready. And he knew that she couldn't afford a bigger apartment. Oh, what was his problem?

He felt like a huge jerk.

Maria was shocked by his reaction to 'Turn around! Now!' This was new. Thomas would've never had taken off. I mean, they were really close. All she needed was a sports bra and it's just like gym days. Right? Why'd he take off?

Thomas caught up with James Madison and his boyfriend, Aaron Burr. They were with Lafayette, Hercules, Laurens and, Hamilton. They were at the local coffee shop. He was completely red and out of breath, so he took them all by quite the surprise.

"Maria...apartemnt..not...ready...." He said, catching his breath.

"What?" Everyone except James said, not understanding anything at all.

"Allow me to translate," James said, clearing his throat, "Thomas likes Maria so he was gonna surprise her with some tea and escort to his pool party later. However, Aaron forgot to call her to tell her she was off, courtesy of Thomas, so Thomas took her completely by surprise, when she was, how you say, half naked. She yelled at him and he got flustered and ran off."

"How did you know?" asked Thomas, who now had regained his breath.

"Well," James said, taking a petit sip of his latte with foam shaped like a cat, " You told me about your crush and Maria just texted me. Take my scooter and go get your Juliet." James said shaking his head as he and the table dispersed into cars.

"Alright," Thomas said to himself, "Let's go."

Thomas raced to Maria's apartment. He was worried he was too late. He ran an hour from her place to the coffee shop. A good drive would take at least twenty. Would she even be there?

But, she was definitely there. Except no one could see her. She had built a hidden compartment behind her fridge to hide in. Like a two-person panic room. She used it two times a week on average. Maybe three.

Today was three.

She could hear James Reynolds going through her drawers for cash, and constantly looking under and in furniture for her. She winced at every sound she heard. Eventually, the fridge was being moved.

The door was exposed.

"There you ar-" James started but fell to the ground.

In Maria's doorway stood Thomas, out of breath and looking honestly terrified. Next to him was, Sergent Washington, leader of the police and Maria's adoptive father.

He had adopted her and Alexander when they both were kids. He had helped them through some rough times. She owed him her life.

And now it seemed that way again.

Washington ran in and secured Reynolds. Apparently, he had used the lethal taser by mistake. Honest mistake. That's what he wrote at least.

"Is he?" Maria began, horrified someone had been killed in her apartment. She would be evicted for sure.

"No," Washington said taking him away with other recruits, "Paralyzed from the waist down at the least. " Washington said, walking to talk with officers and the; landlord.

"How did he know your new address?" Thomas asked, scared for her safety. Reynolds had many friends. Bad friends.

"I... I don't know..." Maria replied shaking.

Thomas pulled her into a close hug. He gently kissed her forehead as she broke. They were terrified. In love with each other, but terrified.

"Hey, why don't you move in with me? He won't know where you are. Plus, I'll be there for you, 24/7" Thomas asked, scared but firm in his decision.

"Yeah," She said, leaning into him, "I'd like that."

"Great," He said as she collected her things, "Oh! Let me cancel the party." Thomas added, pulling out his cell phone.

"Oh forget about that, let's host it together. I'll put everything away later." She said, pulling her luggage, "After all, it is just one party."

And they walked out laughing.

Hand in hand.

A/N: Sorry this one was a little shorter(more conversations) but we need to talk.  This book is one of my favorite ideas, but I just can't continue it at the moment. This isn't the end, just let me get my other books up and running. This book will stay marked as completed. If I do return to Hamilton One-Shots, I will make a second book. This isn't the end of Hamilton books on my profile. I have three in the works, that will actually be a consecutive story. Thanks ~ Aphrodite
