Part 25

I don't know what to say to Emily. She might be mad at me for ruining her party or almost having her brother in law killed. I went to the edge of the pool and lifted myself up.

    "It's not but Josh decided that he would throw me in."

    "After you pushed me in!" he yelled.

    "Ignore him. Come with me to change."

She followed me into the house and into my room. She sat down on the bed while I found a sundress to wear.

    "How have you been?" She asked.

     "Good. Listen Em I'm sorry about the party."

    "You don't need to apologize. I should've known something was wrong. You're my best friend."

    "It just caught me off guard to see Michael at the party, especially since I didn't know him and Jackson were brothers. I should've put it together."

   "Well how's the baby?"

Lilly and her big ass mouth.

   "I'm glad my sister follows directions so well." I said sarcastically.

    "She's worried about you and she told me this so I could keep an eye on you."

Just then Alisha poked her head through the door.

    "How is little Joshy doing?"

    "Does the whole world know that I'm pregnant?"

    "Since Lillian was the only one that knew yes the whole world knows." Alisha said.

    "I can't believe that Paris is going to have a baby." Emily said.

    "I know we have to plan your baby shower."

    "Sure thing Alisha."

    "Our babies can have play dates or even better if you have a boy and I have a girl they can date and they would only be a month apart. Omg that would be so cute, or if you had a girl and I had a boy."

   "Em deep breaths, Are you trying to say that you're pregnant too?" I asked.

   "Yes I'm a month, I just found out yesterday."

    "An ultimate baby shower party. I love it!" Alisha said with joy.

    "Come on you two bursts of energy, lets go outside."

We all went outside where I found Jackson, my dad, and Josh holding a conversation. He looked up at me and smiled. That made me blush, I've never had a guy look at me the way Josh does.

A little while later my mom came outside and whispered in my ear. My whole body went stiff and Josh could tell because he came over and put his hand on my shoulder. I looked over towards the door and saw a very familiar face, Kevin.

    "Mom what is he doing here?"

    "I invited him."

    "Well I'm leaving."

    "You're not going anywhere and if you get up from that seat imma whoop your ass."

Ah there she goes, that's the Karin that I know. I guess Cali hasn't changed her.

    "Gee thanks mom. You're amazing."

    "Stop being grouchy. You have to let him in sometime." She kissed me on the cheek and went inside the house.

    "Hi Paris."

    "Hi Kevin."

    "Hi Mr. Jacobs it's nice to see you again." Emily said.

    "Wow. Emily you've gotten so grown, how have you been?"

    "Good Good. I just got married a year ago, that's my husband over there." She pointed to Jackson.

    "That's great. Hi Alisha."

     "Hi sir."

He sat down in the chair next to me and nodded in Josh's direction.

     "So your mom tells me that you're going to have a baby."

     "Yea that's the plan."

     "You must be nervous."

     " I think I'll do better than some people I know." I said bitterly.

    "Paris, can we please talk?"

I wanted to say no and to tell him to fuck off but that wouldn't resolve anything.

    "Yea lets take a walk."

If I wasn't mistaken Josh was looking pleased with a smirk on his face.

We start walking away from the house, towards the direction of the cafe.

     "I know I haven't been a great father and I've made mistakes, but I'm trying to fix it. I never wanted to leave you believe me but I didn't want to stay and force your mother to love me just because we had you. She made the decision for me to leave and be with Rose and I told Charles that he belonged with your mom. I never fully left you though, I always kept in contact with your mom, she sent me pictures of you riding your bike, I went to every one of your graduations, I sent you money on your birthday and holidays."

     "But you weren't there," I interrupt him."I needed you to be there for me when I had nightmares, when I lost my first tooth, when I fell off my bike, for prom, you weren't there Dad and it really did hurt. I cut you out of my life because I thought you did the same. Another man raised me as his own while you were raising Lilly. I love Lilly, I really do I just wish it was the opposite sometimes. I would love for me to be close with you like how she is."

     "I'm sorry Paris." He wrapped his arms around me and I didn't want to push him off, giving up I joined him.

     "I want to start all over Kevin."

     "I promise I won't disappoint you Paris."

     "Alright lets go back to the house to eat."

All that anger and hate I had towards my dad vanished, I could finally breathe again.

We went the whole night dancing, singing, telling stories, it felt like how it should be. I don't want to leave this place, but I miss Gale and Sam. It's time to say goodbye California and hello Pennsylvania.
