12. The Spell

Jeremy, Damon, Elena and I were in the living room waiting for Qetsiyah. Suddenly, the front door opened and we saw the witch right in front of us. "Where is the other doppelganger?" She looked at Elena and Amara with a disgusted face.

Damon stepped closer to her. "Relax! Katherine likes to make an entrance."

As if that was a cue, Katherine Pierce walked through the door and smirked. "The cute one is here!" She smirked while Elena rolled her eyes.

Qetsiyah turned around. "Let's not waste my time and just get it on with the spell so I can leave." She locked the door and that caused my heart to beat faster.

"Do we trust her enough to make this spell?" I asked my brother while he stared at the locked door.

He shook his head and then looked at me. "We don't have another choice. Also, I promised Amara that I would bring her to Silas so they could die together." He raised an eyebrow. "I have zero patience for their Romeo and Juliet crap."

Jeremy started to pace back and forth. "I just want the spell to work so that we can have Bonnie back."

His concern regarding Bonnie made me slightly jealous but I wanted the same thing. Bonnie deserved it. "This is going to work and we'll have Bonnie back." I grabbed his forearm and smiled at him. He winked at me and then interlocked his fingers with mine.

Almost an hour later, Qetsiyah, Katherine, Elena, Amara and Bonnie walked through the door and Jeremy immediately hugged Bonnie Bennett. My heart sank as he twirled her around, laughing as if they were still a couple. "I'm so glad you're back, Bonnie!" They hugged again and I walked upstairs, jealousy consuming me to the core.

My door was locked but I heard someone knock gently. "Open the door, Mia!" I heard Elena's voice and I decided to unlock my bedroom door. "Hey..." She smiled lightly. "Can we talk?" I nodded and she sat on my red couch. "I know you're uncomfortable with Jeremy and Bonnie's friendship."

I laughed sarcastically. "I'm totally okay with their friendship!" My obvious lie made Elena raise her perfectly plucked eyebrow. "Fine..." I sighed. "I'm completely jealous of their close relationship."

Elena leaned forward and then smiled. "You shouldn't be jealous. Jeremy loves you like he has never loved anyone else." Her smile faded slightly. "He feels guilty about Bonnie's death which is why he's been so obsessed with bringing her back. Jeremy died and he only came back because of Bonnie. He's grateful to her!"

"But it was Silas who brought him back!" I replied in an angry tone. "I get that Jeremy wants to make it up to her but he ignored me and just hugged her. He communicated with her for months on end."

"Who do you think sent me here to make sure you were alright?" Elena stood up and then took a sit on my bed, right next to me. "Jeremy knows you're pissed which is why he didn't come here himself. Knowing you, I think you'd kick his ass."

Her choice in words made me laugh. "You bet! I am so mad that all I want is to kick is sorry ass and make a stew of Hunter's meat." Elena laughed and then pulled me into a warm hug. "I really love your brother." I admitted.

Elena pulled away and smiled. "I know, Mia. Which is why you can't seriously be mad at Jer because of Bonnie. Their relationship was never as strong as yours. He would die for you."

I nodded and then all my anger vanished. Jeremy was in love with me, not Bonnie. I needed to stay positive and be more understanding.

It was late when I heard a noise coming from the living room. Jeremy was asleep so I decided to walk downstairs. When I reched the bottom of the stairs, I heard my two brothers arguing. "You were reckless!" Damon yelled.

"Why are you defending the monster that kept me underwater for months?" Stefan spat in anger.

"Could you two stop arguing!" I shouted and their heads turned to me. "What happened?" I demanded to know.

Damon shook his head. "Just ask Stefan!" He stepped closer to me and kissed the top of my head. "Goodnight, Mia!"

Stefan sighed and sat on the couch, angry about Damon's words. "Would you enlighten me, brother?" I asked while sitting next to Stefan.

He looked at and smiled softly. "You act just like Damon but you're nicer and more understanding." Stefan held my hand. "Mia, you're capable of being tough but you're also capable of forgiveness." He let go of my hand and looked down. "I killed Silas after Amara took her own life."

I furrowed my eyebrows and a tear streamed down my face. Stefan looked at me puzzled and wiped my tear. "I didn't even say goodbye to Amara..."

Stefan took me in his arms. "You're not mad at me for killing Silas? Damon says I was reckless."

I buried my face on his chest. "Silas tortured you for months and he deserved to die. I do not blame you for wanting justice." I looked into his green eyes that reminded me of my mother's. "You've been through a lot and no one saved you. We were so wrapped up in our own lives that we believed you were just brooding somewhere because of Elena." I hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry Stefan!"

He stroked my red hair and smiled. "You have nothing to apologize for." He cupped my face and I could see his perfectly white teeth. "Mia, you're my sister and I love so much... We were never the best of friends but you're always ready to save me and listen to me when I'm alone."

"But you're not alone, Stefan!" I stated with tears in my eyes. "Damon may never show it, but he loves you and he would die for you in a heartbeat." Stefan didn't say a word, instead he just pulled me into a tight embrace and I smiled.

My relationship with Stefan was never really good but I would anything for him. He's my brother and family always comes first, no matter what.
