Mia looked towards Alex and Mason sitting in the corner in the room, trying her best to hear what they were talking about.
"...... she can't find out. Alex, she just can't. If she does, who knows what she'll do?" Mason sounded concerned.
"I'll make sure that she doesn't Mason. I promise." Alex and Mason sounded like they've been friends forever. Huh, that explains a lot now. I have to find out what's going on. Alex slowly stood up and turned toward Mia's mother.
"Angelica, I need to talk to you, in private," turning to Mia," and don't even think about eavesdropping. It won't do you any good." He took her mother to the far part of the room in the dark. When they were gone, Mia ran over to Mason and gave him a cold stare,
"What did he say? I know you were talking to him about something." Mia said coldly.
" Look, yeah you did catch us talking but Mia, please don't take this personally but..." Mason replied sadly, "Mia, You need to stop using your magic for yourself. It's only going to get you into trouble, it isn't going to do you any good. Trust me, please." Mia turned her head to the side and said quietly, " I'll only stop if you tell me why. I can't stop myself from it, okay? I just... can't." Mia heard a loud shout from where Alex and her mother left in the darkness she could glimpse two figures approaching them from both sides. Mia quickly shut her eyes and grabbed Mason's hand.
When she opened her eyes, she could see Mason. But the two figures were reaching towards her and she quickly ran as fast as she could, when she got exhausted she sat on a tree root and gently touched it with her fingers until it glowed with her magic and the tree folded itself into a small hut and Mia hid herself there.
"This feels like exile. What am I doing?" she found comfort in talking to herself. She turned her head and she started messing with her magic, when she heard a voice whisper into her ears " You are destined for greatness,Mia. You need to quit thinking about the past, it will tear you apart if you don't stop, Mia. Please do this for me." The voice faded and a medallion fell into Mia's hands and she turned it over to see the gem on the sides.
"I've seen this before!" She gasped, "I know what I have to do." She looked up and she could tell someone was outside her "hut" and she told herself she had to let go of the pastand of she didn't she would certainly end up in her ruler's dungeon for sure. I have to let go, She stood and lifted her hand she turned the tree back into its original state. I must fight my past fears and I can't let myself down. She looked towards where she thought the person was but she only saw Mason, standing there with a gold plated box in his hands, he lifted the lid slightly, "I'm sorry Mia, I can't help you anymore. You have to go on by yourself." He lifted the lid completely and a glowing spark flew from Mia's hands and she suddenly collapsed to the ground lightheaded.
"Help me, Mason. Please. I can't-" Mia was cut off by a screeching noise from far in the distance she turned to look but her vision was blocked by an imaginary force that only one person she knew could possess that kind of magic. She was stunned.
