I shut the door and started to follow Karen down the steps. My heart started to race. I don't know why I was so nervous. I mean he's my dad, but I guess it was because I've never met him before. I got to the bottom of the steps and looked up. There he was, awkwardly standing there with his hands in his brown leather jacket. He had grayish black hair and crystal blue eyes. I stared at him as I hear Karen hurry up the stairs. Once I hear a door shut I started crying.

"Why did you leave?" I look at him as he stared at his feet below him.

"I have no excuse for what I did Bailey. I never should have given up on your mother."He looked up from his shoes and into my eyes.

For some reason I walked forward and collapsed in his arms. He wrapped his arms around me as a sobbed onto his jacket.

"I'm sorry Bailey, I'm so, so sorry." He whispered as he hugged me tighter.

We sat there for 15 minutes, silenced. I lifted my head up to find tears streaming from his face. I hugged him once again.

"We met at a coffee shop." he says unexpectedly.

"What?" I was puzzled at what he was referring to.

"Your mom. She was sitting near the window and as I walked by I saw her. Her red hair flipped and her blue eyes flashed at me. I fell in love instantly." He looked sorry.

"Then what happened?" I was curious on what he had to stay.

"I walked into the coffee shop and I sat down in front of her and it all started from there." I smiled

"I loved your mother."

"Loved? So you just randomly stopped loving her and moved away?" I started to fume and I think he could tell.

"She didn't tell you did she?" I looked a little concerned.

"Tell me what?" I became more confused every time he opened his mouth.

"Your mom cheated on me right after you were born. I never got to hold you." A tear jerked from his eye.

I had no clue that my mom did that to Dave. I got up and hugged him.

Dave stayed for a week. We grew closer together and shared our love for 80's music. He taught me how to solve a Rubik's cube. Dave was actually really cool. I learned he has a wife back in Washington and that I have 3 siblings. Two brothers and a sister. My little sister was the youngest and she was 3 years old, her name is Ella. My youngest brother is named Cole and he is 7. Lastly my other brother, he is 13 years old and his name is Kevin.

"How come Kevin is so close to my age?" I asked when he told me.

"Well when I got to Washington I met someone else. I was hurt and open to anything, but I am still with her."

"Oh okay."

That was probably the most awkward conversation with Dave.

Then it was time to take Dave back to the airport.

"Hey, Bailey." Dave was trying to pull something out of his pocket.

"Yeah?"

"Here." he handed me a small envelope.

"What is it?"

"Open it when I leave."

We got to the airport and Dave and I stepped out of the car.

"Dave... Dad, I am really glad you came here."

"Me too Bailey. Maybe one day you would like to fly out and meet your siblings?" He sounded super serious.

"I would love that!" I hugged Dave and watched him walk into the airport.

I got back into the car and stared at the envelope.

"What's that?" Karen asked.

"It's nothing." I lied. It had to be something coming from my long lost dad.
