The Sunday morning church service ran a little longer than usual , but Paris didn't mind at all. She lived for The Lord. In fact, before she made any decision she had to pray about it. She even read and reread the bible ever since she was old enough to read. She loved to listen to her father preach every Sunday. His word brought her closet and closer to The Lord.
Once her father's sermon was over, the choir song one more song, then they ended church service with the benediction. The large church filled with the smooth angelic voice of Xavier Miller. He was the lead vocalist in the choir. He ended service with the song 'Never would have made it' by Marvin sapp. He was also Paris's crush. They've known each other practically their whole lives, but they only occasionally talked.
Paris's mom used to babysit him when his mom had to work, but for some reason she got butterflies every time she attempted to talk to him.

Everyone stood for the final prayer, Paris's father Warren Coleman stood behind his podium with his pure white robe on, looking almost like Jesus Christ himself.
"Amen." He said as he ended the prayer
Paris grabbed her bible and the rest of her belongings and headed to the front to say goodbye to the members of the church.
"Oh Paris you look absolutely gorgeous today." One of the older member complimented her
"Thank you Ms. Ethel," Paris said as she gave her a hug
"No problem sweetie, also don't forget to tell your father how much of a great job he did up there," she smiled
"Will do."
Paris greeted the rest of the church members, except for one. This time Paris's hands weren't shaking as bad as they usual did and her heart rate was normal.
She walked up to Xavier but before she could get his attention another girl about their age barged in front in her.
"Hey X," she said as she popped her gum
"Wassup," He smiled showing all of his pearly whites
"Are we still chilling at my place tomorrow night after school?" She asked
"Oh tomorrow night ain't good for me, I got choir practice."
"B-but you promised," she made a face
"Catch me another day, I gotchu then," he said
"Come on you can miss one pra-" She was cut off
"No I can't!" He spat "I'm the lead singer, this shit way more important than you giving me some head."
She was shocked that the words came out of his mouth, but he was blunt and she knew that.
"Why would you say that in front the whole church," she whined
"Hey don't act you don't do it," Brittany stood motionless
"Move along Brittany, the answer is no."
Brittany walked away on the verge of crying.
After what just happened Paris was about to reconsider her plan until,
"Hey Paris you needed something?" He asked
"Uhhh,". Paris paused "Yeah. I wanted to tell you that you did an amazing job today singing," Paris said nervously
"Thanks."
Paris began to walk away
"That's all you wanted to tell me?" He asked with a smirk on his face
"Yeah hehe," Paris was extremely nervous
"Dang girl calm down, whatcha shaking for?" He asked
"Nothing I-it's just cold in here."
"The AC ain't on, it's the middle of September, paster like to keep the bills down around this time of year," He said
"You should know that PK [preacher's kid]."
She rolled her eyes "Yeah. I know," Paris hated being called a 'PK' others around made it seem like it was so bad.
"My bad Paris, I know you don't like being called that." He said sincerely
"It's alright. I should be used to it by now I've been hearing it all my life,"
They both laughed slightly
"Yeah, by the way how's Mrs. C," he asked referring to Paris's sick mother
"Right now we're unsure. She's suppose to be going into surgery Tuesday."
Paris's mother was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer about 2 months ago and she's been in the hospital ever since. It seemed like every time the doctors tried to help her the disease fought back. Paris broke down plenty of times because of the pressure but her father always encouraged her to pray and stay strong for her mother.
"Well tell her that she's in my prayers," he smiled placing his hand on his chest
"I'll make sure to tell her," Paris said as she tried not to stare
"In fact I think we may be going to visit her when we leave, if you wanted to come too you know my dad would be okay with that."
"Nah. I got choir rehearsal, you should know that too PK," he grinned
Paris gave him a death glare
"Okay okay I apologize."
They both laughed
But what Paris didn't know was that Xavier wasn't planning on staying for practice at all. He planned on missing one practice to hang with his friends and what they did was anything but legal.
