Chapter 1

-Day 1 Part 1-

"Hey Chelsene," Carrie greeted me at school.

"Hi Carrie," I greeted back.

The both of us walked to class together everyday.

"You're looking rather down. A penny for your thoughts?" Carrie asked.

"Prom," I said. "I guess we don't have much luck with boys, do we?"

She shrugged, obviously refusing to admit it.

Just as we walked in to the biology lab, Jeff Miney, the science geek stepped out. He turned to look at Carrie and boldly asked," Carrie, will you go with me to the prom?"

Carrie looked shock at his request but because she was desperate for a partner, she said yes.

"At least you've got someone now," I said to Carrie after bio class.

"Let's not get started, Sene," she sighed.

"You should go and pick a dress for prom."

"I'm going shopping for one after school. Wanna come?"

I nodded. Though no one has asked, it doesn't mean that I couldn't get a dress, right?

At lunch, Carrie and I sat together at the same table. Only the two of us. I don't know why, but the both of us seem to have a social problem.

After we had our lunch, we would always go to the playground to chat. It was the same old routine every single day. You couldn't expect much from us.

Today however, a boy by the name of Cory Jackson came up to us.

Cory was the well-known and well-loved guitarist of the school band. He was always hanging out with the popular guys and girls.

"Hey girls! I see you here everyday. You both don't seem to be able to socialise well, huh?" he joked.

I nodded. Its a fact.

"Who's your date?" Carrie asked him all of a sudden.

"Kristen Allegots."

Kristen was one popular girl. Lucky her.

"Who are your dates?" Cory asked back.

"Jeff Miney," Carrie said, showing a look of disgust.

Cory placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's alright. At least he can help you work on your science."

This boy loves to see the bright side of everything. That was why the teachers liked him.

"What about you?" he asked, turning to me after taking his hand off Carrie's shoulder.

"A ghost," I answered without thinking.

"It's okay, someone is bound to ask you out. Be patient. I have always thought you were a great girl."

I smiled at what Cory had said. He really knows how to make one feel better about themselves.

The lunch bell rang and students and teachers were seen heading back to class. The hallways were always filled at this time of day.

It was English and I was in the same class as Cory.

"How are my lovely students feeling today?" Mrs Thompson asked.

"Good," we all replied.

Mrs Thompson was a really nice and good English teacher. You could tell her anything under the sun if you want as she wouldn't spill your secret.

"Let's rearrange your seating. I feel that you've been talking way too much this term."

Oh great.

I've been sitting with a nerd but he's been helping me out with my studies so much that my grades improved drastically. Please don't change my place!

"Chelsene," the teacher called suddenly, scaring me.

"Y...yes?" I stuttered.

"You shall sit with Cory."

I knew what I had to do. Packing my bag, I dragged my feet across the class to sit with Cory.

"Hello Chels," he greeted, fiddling with his pen.

"Hi," I said.

"Okay everybody!" Mrs Thompson shouted, clapping her hands so that she could get everyone's attention. "This will be your seating arrangement until I change it again. Is that understood?"

The whole class agreed and Mrs Thompson smiled, pleased. "Great! Then let's start our lesson! I will pass you all some worksheets and I want you to do them. If you don't know how to do a question, skip it. We'll go through the worksheet later as a class. Well, that is if we have the time."

The worksheets came and I grabbed two. I then passed the remaining worksheets to those sitting at the back.

Cory took one of the worksheets from my table and we started to work on it.
