Besides the sound of abrupt laughter echoing within the walls of the house, it's a rather quiet and calm night reserved just for the couple sitting on the floor in the living room.
Ed pours himself another glass of wine, as Taylor watches, bringing her glass to her mouth and smiling. It was rare that either had a day off to be together, especially with their crazy schedules and off-timing. Whenever Taylor was free, Ed was jam-packed with a day full of interviews. Than, whenever Ed manage to take some time off, it was Taylor who was busy promoting her new music. More than most, it was usually the distance that proved a hinderance between the two, setting them far apart when all they longed for was to be close together.
But finally, after a month of having to plan ahead in order to schedule time off together, they were able to plan a week with just one another, with no concerts or interviews to interrupt them.
They decide to spend the last day, just the two of them, on the hardwood of the living room floor, holding each other, and simply enjoying the other's presence.
It doesn't take long for Taylor to formulate an idea, sliding away from Ed's arms, eliciting a whine from him, which she quickly dismisses with a kiss.
She smiles as she stands up, a little tipsy, nearly knocking down the bottle of wine as she walks towards the CD player sitting on a nearby table.
Though Ed is curious as to what she's doing, he keeps his thoughts to himself, knowing he'll find out eventually. He takes another sip of wine and waits patiently for the blonde's next move.
Taylor's expression is one of indecisiveness, as she let's one finger trail over different CD cases, looking for one appropriate enough to suit the idea she has in mind.
Finally, her finger stops at a single CD, as she relieves it from its case, blowing a bit of dust off of it first before placing it into the CD player. Her eyes train focused on the different buttons, and after seconds finally is able to locate the 'play' button.
She smiles triumphantly as music begins to play from the speakers, spinning around as a gentle melody leaks from behind her.
Ed looks up at her with confused eyes, and his eyebrows raise as she beckons him to stand up with her.
"Come here" she giggles, arms stretched out and reaching to meet his. He obliges, laughing when she flashes him a dorky smile as he does as he's told.
"Dance with me" she whispers in his ear, placing both of his hands around her lower back, letting go once they wrap themselves around her waist upon their own accord.
She lets her both her arms wrap around his neck, pulling him close as they begin to sway from side to side, smiling into his neck with eyelids threatening to slip closed.
"I don't know how to dance." Ed states, chuckling a little at their awkward footwork.
Taylor laughs, "You're doing just fine." she assures him, closing her eyes and letting her head rest on his shoulder.
Ed smiles at her words of comfort as he rubs a hand up and down her back, ushering her to relax into his shoulder as he holds her close.
Besides the sound of the music playing in the background, it's complete silence between the two, as if every step they take is meant to make up for the days they were parted from one another, a chance to memorize what the other smelled like, how they felt in close proximity.
"I love you, Ed." Taylor whispers, not wanting to tarnish the blanket of quiet surrounding them.
Ed smiles at her words, because although he's heard them many times before, something about it will always send a secure feeling of bliss for him whenever they were spoken from her lips.
He pulls back slightly to kiss the side of her forehead, gently, and whispering in response, "I love you, Taylor." his words send an unexplainable sensation up and down her spine, something only Ed had the ability to do, and something she can never find herself getting used to.
Taylor smiles, reflecting on the past week they'd spent together, and only wishes that their schedules weren't as hectic as they were so that they could have moments like this more often, but is appreciated for the time they do have off to be together. However she knows she'll find herself looking for his body upon empty sheets on nights she can't sleep, and the sound of his voice when he's singing into her ear from behind while she's trying to cook dinner.
Ed knows that he'll miss her tremendously while he's away again; her smile and the sway of her hips. He wants to memorize the pattern of her footsteps when she's trying to avoid him swiping frosting her nose, the way her nose twitches slightly when she's asleep, how her tired blue eyes sleepily welcome his in the morning with their bodies still close together from the night before. And moments like right now, where all he can focus on is how much he loves her, and impulsively holds her closer, tighter.
He was the one she wanted to dance all her dances with, and she his.
