21. The Donovan Bash

After getting ready for the party, I walked to the living room and saw Damon with a concerned look on his face. "Damon, what's wrong?"

My brother looked at me with a stern expression and pursed his lips. "Get out, Mia! Leave for the party and don't even look back."

I was confused but then I heard someone behind me. When I turned around, I noticed Enzo was standing right in front of me. "Hello, Mia! Are you leaving so soon?" He grinned and it made my heart beat faster. "I was actually expecting you."

Damon glared at Enzo. "Leave her out of this! Your issues are with me, just let my sister go and I will do what you want."

"But you see..." Enzo ran his fingers through my hair. "You sister is so beautiful and nice to look at." He sniffed my neck and then grinned. "I bet her blood is delicious."

My body was completely frozen. I couldn't move or speak. Enzo was intimidating as hell! "Enzo, she's just a kid. If you don't let her go, I will kill you."

After looking at Damon, I clenched my fist and punched Enzo in the stomach. He grunted and I ran outside. "Be careful, D!" I whispered so he could hear me.

"Make sure Elena is fine." I heard Damon's voice and I nodded even though he couldn't see. Now I need to protect Elena from this delusional vampire who was holding a grudge against my brother Damon. Why can't I have a normal life?

As soon as I arrived at the party, I was greeted by Matt and Tyler. "Mia!" Tyler yelled and it made me laugh. He place his arm on my shoulder and looked into my eyes. "I just wanna say that I'm really sorry about almost killing you for the second time. I can be a dick sometimes."

I chuckled and then patted his back. "It's okay, Lockwood. You can stop apologizing to me everytime you see me."

"It's just that you're the best person I know and I feel awful." He stated.

Matt handed me a plastic cup filled with beer and smiled. "Tyler's drunk already but you should have fun." I smiled at him and nodded.

Then I glanced to my side and saw Caroline and Elena talking. I approached them and they stopped talking. "Hey girls!" I wrapped my arm around Caroline and she giggled. "I'm really glad I found you two."

Elena shook her head and then glanced to where Tyler was standing and smiled. "Are you drunk, Mia?" She asked while raising an eyebrow.

"I'm not the type to get drunk at parties, Elena." I looked at her with a stern look. "Sometimes it's like we don't know each other at all."

She smiled and then glanced at Caroline. "Caroline here was just about to tell me something scandalous she did." She wiggled her eyebrows and once again looked at Tyler.

Caroline sighed and then crossed her arms over her chest. "Okay, so this was really bad but it was just a one time thing and I don't even know how I feel about it." She looked at the both of us. "Honestly, there was too much going on in my head and you two know how messy my life has been lately."

I smiled softly at my friend and ran my hand over her back to comfort her. "We're your friends, you can tell us anything."

She nodded and pursed her lips. "Well, while I was looking for Matt in the woods I encountered Klaus." My heart skipped a beat at the mention of his name. "We were teasing each other as usual but then things went down and we ended up having sex." She furrowed her eyebrows.

"In the woods?" Elena's eyes widened and she smiled a little devious. "Now that's scandalous!" She looked at the stairs and Tyler's jaw was dropped. He heard everything Caroline told us and he looked disappointed.

"Tyler!" I whispered and then walked up to him but he was nowhere to be found. Why was Elena acting like a bitch? She knew Tyler was listening and still pressured Caroline to tell her about the little rendezvous. Something was really wrong with Elena Gilbert.

Stefan and I brought a distraught Caroline back to the house and she sat by the fireplace. "I'm a terrible person!" She buried her face in her hands.

My brother patted her back. "You're not a terrible person." He sighed and squatted right in front of her. "Caroline, look at me!" He grabbed both her hands gently and smiled. "You shouldn't feel guilty about a stupid mistake you made. It happens!"

I chuckled. "Yeah. Look at Stefan!" I poured some bourbon into a glass. "He had sex with Katherine. Now, that was a stupid mistake!" I took a sip of my drink and smirked.

Caroline sighed. "Why don't you two hate me? I mean, Klaus made you do awful things." She pointed at Stefan and then glanced at me. "And you were in love with him once."

"Your sex life is not my concern so you can sleep around with Klaus or whatever." I stepped closer to my friend. "My only concern right now is you and Tyler, obviously. He looked really hurt while Elena seemed satisfied."

Stefan furrowed his eyebrows and folded his arms over his chest. "What do you mean?" She asked in confusion.

I sighed heavily. "She knew Tyler was listening to the conversation the whole time and never stopped Caroline from talking. What kind of friend does that?"

"I'm so confused right now." Caroline shook her head before standing up. "Why would Elena do something so sneaky? She has nothing to gain from this."

"That's what I am going to find out." I finished my drink and then pulled Caroline into a tight embrace. "Don't overthink about what happened. Tyler will come around and he'll realize he has no right to punish you."

Caroline pulled away from the embrace and looked at me with a soft smile. "Thank you for being here for me. You're a good friend, Mia."

I smiled at my blonde friend. "That's what friends are for."

My new priority is to figure out why Elena put Caroline under the bus. I'm going to follow her day and night until I get answers.
