PENNY
This was it. Today was the day I moved to a new place.I have spent the last few years, taking care of my mother while she had cancer. Then after she died, that's when I began to save up enough money to leave.
My mom and I were best friends and were there for each other always, especially after my dad left us before I was born. My mom was badass and worked her ass off to make sure I had food and shelter. She was and always will be my hero.
I have always wanted to move to Maine and now, I had saved enough money to do it. Although my cousin, Jeff, was nice enough to let me move in with him until I got my own place. Which was great cause him and I are very close and act like brother and sister with each other.
After my bus arrived at the station, I was standing around, looking for Jeff to come pick me up, however, he was nowhere to be found.
So right as I was about to call him, he texted me telling me he was sorry but he had to handle stuff at his work. He's the manager of some kind of a Poker place where high rollers come from all around and gamble as well as have some really attractive waitresses.
He invited me to go meet him there at his work. So I called for a cab to come and pick me up and drop me off.
After being dropped off, I took my backpack, purse and suitcase and stood in front of the black double heavy doors that I assumed was the place.
It wasn't close by to many stores and though it looked decent, it didn't look like a place where high rollers would go to gamble. Then again, I don't know what high rollers look for. Besides, I also remember that Jeff had told me it's a private place that not many know about and you have to know someone to get in. Which I'm sure it's illegal, but I'm not going to judge him.
As soon as I walk inside, there's about 12 round tables that each held 8 people.
They were all filled, drinking, smoking and even one guy was off to the side, getting a lap dance from a girl.
I look around for Jeff and finally see him talking to the bartender at behind the bar.
As I begin walking up, he turns his head and see's me and then jumps over the bar counter and runs up to me and embraces me in a big hug.
"Oh my god it's so good to see you!" He says in excitement.
"It's good to see you too." I smile while hugging him back.
"I am so glad you're here. Come on, follow me real quick." He says while taking a hold of my hand and we start walking towards the bar while he takes my bags and then sets them all down behind the bar and introduces me first to the bartender.
"Taz this is Penny, my cousin. The one I told you about and Penny, this is one of my great friends, Taz, who also happens to be the best bartender in the world. " He exclaims.
"Ohhhh, so this is the infamous Penny?! She's a lot cuter in person." He says to me with a wink and I start to blush as we shake hands.
"Thanks." I reply.
"Have you told Cade yet?" Taz asked Jeff.
"He'll be fine with it." Jeff assures Taz.
"Okay. It's your funeral." Taz laughs at Jeff as he pats him on the back.
"Come on, there's a few others I want to introduce you to." Jeff tells me while rolling his eyes and has me follow him as he introduces me to all the dealers at the table and the waitresses as well as the few dancers.
Everyone seemed really nice and really cool.
After being introduced to everyone and after he finished up with whatever he needed to finish, we headed to his house.
As soon as we arrived, my first thought was that it was amazingly beautiful. Then as soon as we began walking inside, it was even better looking inside.
"Wow. This is your house?" I asked.
"I wish. No, my boss and real good friend, Cade, owns this house. As well as the place I work at." He tells me.
"Damn, business must be good." I chuckled.
"Yeah." He chuckles also. "So, let me show you around real quick, then have you unpack and get settled in and if you want, we can order some pizza and just stay in tonight."
"Okay. Sounds good." I replied.
He helped carry my bags upstairs to my new bedroom that I can tell he had painted an Amethyst purple color.
"This will be your room." He tells me as he sets down my bags. "And you also have your own bathroom."
"Wow. Thanks." I reply.
"You're welcome. Now lets finish up, cause I'm starving." He says and we both start walking out so he could finish giving me the tour.
Once we were done with him giving me the tour, we just finished up with dinner and were catching up with one another when I decided to ask him what I have wanted to ask him since he showed me where Cade's room was.
"So, Jeff....." I began.
"Yeah?" He asked.
"Are you sure that Cade will be okay with me staying here? I mean, I noticed Taz's look on his face when he asked you if you asked your boss yet and then laughed." I said.
"Don't worry about it. I mean, something you need to understand and know about Cade is that he hates everybody. So when you do meet him, make sure that I'm with you." He tells me.
"Okay." I replied.
I then yawned and we said goodnight to one another and I decided to unpack everything tomorrow cause I was just way too tired.
So I got a place to stay, now all I need to get is a job.
Next chapter will be posted soon! :)
