I typed on my laptop. Tapping fills the room. It is quite. Except for my sister reading out loud a manga book dubbing it for her channel. I continued my essay. My name is Clara Clark and I am 20 years old. I found a neat website where I could type in my first language, Korean. If I write an essay for each month for 24 months I get a degree. Right now I only have my Associate's degree being only 20. I work outdoors trying to find a steady job in the U.S. I have the major of an editorial. I edit mostly anything from essays and videos so I could help out my little sis. I really need a job or else we lose our apartment. I saved my work and closed down all my tabs. I left it charging on my desk. It was 8:30 right now so I make a sandwich from what's left in the fridge. After I ate I heard my sister Scarlet say her outro. I brushed my teeth as she posted her dub on her channel. After I finished using the bathroom I headed straight for our bed. A while later I felt Scarlet's weight as the bed shifted a bit. We slept the night away.

I woke up as usual at 6 in the morning. My sister was a late sleeper and slept until 8 or 9 depending what day it is. I went into our kitchen and made breakfast. It was the last of our week's supply so I carefully divided the proportions of food. I put the plates down on the table. I went downstairs to get the mail. It was a new start. I was working on my first essay, after I checked my email on my phone. This essay is about what is the worst case scenario I had ever faced. I actually thought this up in my head. Once, me and Scarlet were sent to the U.S. so that our dad can get better jobs. Meanwhile, our mom got cancer and past away on my birthday according to the letter we got from a friend of hers. I studied hard while my sister started her dubbing career on K-tube. I got straight A's while she got A's and a single B. One night, we waited at the window for our father to get home. His blue car rolled up into the parking space. We saw him get out of the car. The next thing we knew we heard the loudest roar and saw the brightest lights. A brightly painted red car was now splattered near the front in red. The driver got out of the car and I believe they started to curse. I quickly dialed for the the ambulance. The calm voice asked what was the problem. I carefully said what had happened in English. A few minutes later the ambulance came. The car was gone though. My sister was still crying and said that the driver just got back in and left not caring that he just ran someone over. I was so mad. I wasn't scared anymore I was done. The ambulance finally came and brought the crushed figure of our father inside. The cops came so I left the door open. I watched as late workers go past the door looking at me curiously. I answered a few questions of the police in my best English. I finished answering the last of their questions and close the door. Locking it, I listened to my sister cry. It made me realize how truly young we are at that moment. I was only 17 and Scarlet was 15. It was going to ba a nightmare from that moment to death. All this had happened on Scarlet's birthday.

I saved my work and sent it to the website. I heard Scarlet scuffling past me to get her breakfast. I closed down all the tabs and joined my sister for breakfast. She looked through the mail and passed a letter to me. I wondered which bill decided to come late when I saw the stamp. It wasn't an American stamp, no. It was Korean. I didn't know who it could've been from. It only said my name and zip code. I opened the letter and nearly fainted.

Dear Clara,

We got a bunch of adds to get editorials and apparently the quiz we took said that we should hire you. You may not be a fan or don't even know that we exist but we are part of a boy band group in South Korea. We will pay you about 365,000 per year. You can bring one other person with you. We hope you will agree to take our offer.

From, RM

I finally got a job. In Korea nevertheless. Then again, it was with a boy band my sister was a fan of. I told her excitedly and cleaned our plates. I grabbed a travel backpack and started packing. I grabbed a travel bag. It was gray with green zippers and only had two pockets. The large one only opened on the bottom of the left side all the way to the top but stops when it reaches the right. There was a small opening where I put my laptop. On the opposite side, there was a small black velvet baggie connected to the top. I put my headphones in there. I put two pairs of jeans and leggings. Three shirts, seven pairs of undergarments, and six pairs of socks. That's all of my closet. I put my laptop charger and my phone charger in the smaller pocket. I put in my transportable hairbrush which was mint green, like my eyes. I grabbed a small dark red makeup bag and put in my eyeshadow, mascara, and lipstick. I placed it in the small pocket and zipped it up. I prepared the apartment for the next people and waited or my sister to finish. I look at a mirror. My light red hair reminded me of a movie I watched. It was about a mermaid. My green eyes were like neon street lights but Scarlet argues that they were green like emerald. Scarlet amusingly has honey-blonde hair and blue eyes like sapphire. I looked away and look at the tickets. Out of all people, why me?
