I jumped at the sound of the alarm. "RED ALERT, RED ALERT! CODE RED! THIS IS NOT A DRILL! CODE RED! CODE RED!" In my office at the power-plant, I stumbled off my chair, spilling my cold coffee in the process. I ran to the chamber where the power plants supply came from. People were panicking, racing to the exit. I pushed through the crowd to find the cause of the chaos. The plant's machines were overheating, the nuclear tank had a crack in it, and the pressure was building up in the pipes. We were having a meltdown.

I ran to the machinery operations table, flipping switches and trying to stop the meltdown. I could only think of my family, my young daughter Alisa and wife Hope. They would just be having a normal day right now. Alisa would be at school and Hope would be at the office. They wouldn't know that their lives would never be the same. I prayed a silent prayer that they would make it out alive, but I knew it was a waste. I was about to break into tears, when all of a sudden, the main pump flew into the tank, smashing it, making it a sick, green pool of death. A few workers who were close to the tank lay on the ground, not moving. I continued working with the operations until the power went down. I knew then, we were all going to die.

I ran from the control room, through the hallway and outside. Were there were children playing and adults walking to and fro, looking up to see thousands of power-plant workers running around screaming their heads off. The kids thought it was a game and started screaming and laughing as well, but the adults looked like they'd seen a ghost. They'd be ghosts in about 5 minutes.

Suddenly, I heard a cry from in the plant. I shook from my paralyzed position and ran inside, only to see a young worker, in her early twenties, dangling over the edge of the sinkhole of poison. We were all going to die, but I knew that I wouldn't want to die like that. I ran through the debris to find the worker struggling to pull herself up. I gave her my hand, and pulled her up. She looked at me with her scared, brown eyes. I told her to run, but she didn't. I guess she knew that her, and my, fates were as good as gone. I yelled at her again, slipping on a liquid on the floor. I only saw her scream as I fell into the green ocean.
